We walked down a spiral staircase that led to the cell. Neil and Ron held their composure whereas I was fidgeting nervously as I went down each step. Killing abandoned wolves was not new to me but currently, I was not in my own territory. I had to cease any cannibalistic urges and make rational decisions.

The walk to the cell was dark. They had lanterns hanging off of the old cracked walls as we made our way to the bottom of the staircase. In front of us was a giant rusty metal gate that was locked with a padlock. Beta Drake unlocked the door and all of us walked inside. The stench of blood and detergent surrounded us while we walked through the low lighted hallway. We stood in front of two metal doors placed right next to each other.

I looked around but I couldn't see James anywhere. He was out of sight and I had to ignore the urge to ask about him.

"We have tortured them previously," Drake started to bring me out of my thoughts, "-they said nothing. We have tied them with silver chains."

"We expected no less from them," Neil said. "Let's see if we can get any details. Have you interrogated the one we brought?"

"No. Alpha James ordered us to refrain from doing so without your presence," Drake answered. "We shall head to the male you have brought first if you wish."

"Yes, please," Neil said and Drake opened the door to the left. Drake sent some of his pack members to interrogate the abandoned wolf they have caught, again. We walked inside the door and saw a man in his mid-twenties, tied with silver shackles in the middle of the room. He had bruises all over his body which was exposed to us. They had him tied naked with each of his limbs fastened individually. He was somewhat unconscious or ignorant of our presence. Although it didn't take long for him to notice our presence when Neil held him by his throat.

The abandoned wolf choked and soon begged to be forgiven.

Neil narrowed his eyes and asked him his name.

"Lamar." He croaked out. The silver shackles tied around his ankles and wrists drained all his energy however we were curious about the bruises on his body.

"Did you?" Neil asked Drake pointing at the bruises.

"He tried to escape, so yes," Drake replied.

Neil didn't ask Drake any further questions and looked back at the abandoned wolf.

"So Lamar," Neil asked, "- why did you sneak inside the Red Blood pack?"

Lamar shook his head and spat. "I sneaked into the Red Blood pack, yes. But why the hell did you drag me here to the Dark Moon pack?"

I mentally chuckled at his statement.

"That's not what I asked you," Neil growled. Inside the cell, there were at least forty members from the Dark Moon pack and twenty of ours. James was still absent. I saw Jace standing in the corner with a notebook. He glared at the abandoned wolf waiting for answers.

"Can you please let me go?" He whimpered, "I'll answer everything but you have to promise to set me free."

Neil looked at Lamar like he grew a second head. A smile appeared on Ron's face.

"We might consider that if you tell us everything we want to know." Neil wagered.

Lamar nodded his head. "My mate is pregnant and I need to get back to her." Neil's eyes softened at that. I could tell he was thinking about his mate and unborn pup. She was almost at the verge of giving birth and I was excited to see his pup.

"Why did you sneak inside the pack?" Ron asked on behalf of Neil.

"We have been looking," Lamar whispered.

Jace raised an eyebrow. "Looking for what?"

"The pure soul."

"The what?" I frowned.

"I don't know much but it's what they said," Lamar mumbled. "We were instructed to search for each and every pack."

"Who said and search for what?" I asked, confused.

"As much as we have been told they are looking for the rare breed. The one that nearly came to extinction." The abandoned wolf groaned in pain.

"Why did the abandoned wolves start attacking us all of a sudden?" Jace asked.

"It's because you were planning to kill us." He growled. "You killed some of our family members and leaders."

"We didn't." Drake deadpanned.

"They said so. Some of our family members and leaders disappeared and, they said all the Alphas were behind it."

"We had no such discussions or plans. Who said that?" Neil asked.

"The shifters."

Ron and Neil both looked at me.

Told you.- Ron mind-linked me.

"What are they looking for?" Drake questioned this time. "What rare breed?"

It was just then James walked inside the cell wearing a different set of clothes than he was before. All his pack members looked at him and bowed in respect. He nodded soon looked at me. He held an emotionless expression on his face as he motioned us to carry our interrogation.

Neil huffed at the sudden disturbance.

I couldn't help but look at him. His eyes seemed blank, almost displeased to see me. The smile he had earlier was gone. The fear he had of losing me seemed rather lost in his expressionless features. He just coldly glared at me.

And our blowfish decided to make his entrance. - Neil mocked through the mind-link.

I heard Ron chuckle at the back of my mind.

Shhh- I hushed them through the mind link. James was indeed looking like a blowfish, a good looking blowfish if that made any sense.

Can you hear me? - I tried to ask him through our mate-bond.

Instead of replying he squinted his eyes at me and looked away after a few minutes. He went to the corner and stood beside Jace.

I couldn't help but frown. It was just then when his scent reached my nostrils. He reeked of Hailey.
