Colby pulled back after too little. I almost whined, but I wasn't that dazed yet. He glanced at my neck, the silver of his eyes snapping into just a ring around bright blue. My heart skipped a beat as he leaned down and licked from my collar bone to beneath my ear before nipping my spot. When he lifted his head, he had a cute little smirk on his face. I just had to smile back.

He leaned up, kissing my lips before rolling to the side. We laid facing each other without touching, just looking. I couldn't take my eyes away from that mesmerising blue even if I wanted to. Those same feelings I'd run from were stirring up inside of me, but this time I didn't want to run; I wanted to lie there with Colby forever. I'd never design again; never see Tara again; never breathe again if it meant I could be with Colby.

That was how much he had me.

Reaching out, he took a hold of my face with his thumb in front of my ear and his fingers in my hair. He brushed his thumb over my face softly, never pressing down too hard. It was like I was delicate. I turned my face toward his touch and nudged him to make him smile again. He tugged at me just enough to tell me he wanted me to go to him. I shuffled over the bed, curling against his chest. With his head just above mine, I felt the sigh he let out of content. I felt the same.

He kissed the top of my head. "I can heal you if you don't want your neck to scar." He whispered. I laid there for a second in silence, considering it. To scar. I doubted scar, but I imagined there would be a pretty intense mark on my neck—one I had never seen on Katrina; I guessed Sam healed her. I wasn't Katrina.

I sat up and pulled the hair tie out of my hair before bringing it all into a ponytail, putting my whole neck completely on show. My curls made for a big ponytail, but it still left the mark on my neck visible. I turned back to Colby with a raised brow and he laughed quietly to himself. He pulled me over the top of him, kissing right on the mark on my neck.

For some reason, my thoughts drifted to my sister. "Angela would kill you if she saw that," I muttered, not intending to say it out loud. My lips pressed together as Colby leaned back, one hand behind his head. He looked me up and down for a second with a smirk then shrugged. "I'm serious, you know. She probably knows how to kill you and everything."

"She'd never catch me." He said confidently.

I raised a brow. "You got caught tonight. Or today, whenever."

He rolled his eyes. "By vampires, not a human. Besides, I'd know she was coming. Her scent is... unpleasant." I had to laugh. "I don't want to open that memory back up."

"What's she smell like?"

He just shook his head. "Nope. That scent is buried."

I sighed and leaned forward, kissing his cheek. "I never had anything to eat," I told him, hinting. He raised an eyebrow in amusement but he didn't say anything. I rolled my eyes. "Hey, you just bit me; the least you could do is ask me on a date afterwards."

"I do the bare minimum." He replied, shrugging. I knew he was just teasing me, but I wasn't having it. We were having Tender Greens tonight whether he liked it or not.

I reached around his body, pulling his keys from his back pocket before sliding off of him, then off of the bed. "I'm changing," I announced and walked off. He was smiling to himself when I slid into the bathroom. Leaving my hair in a ponytail, I changed into a pair of black pants and a half-lace top I adored but never had the chance to wear—I'd brought it to Colby's place thinking a situation like this may occur. And I was right. I tied a belt around my waist leaving it to hang down my leg.

When I walked back out into Colby's bedroom, I found that he was missing and the clothes he was wearing were thrown on his washing pile. I smiled knowing he'd changed for me; for a date with me, no less.

As I walked down the stairs, I heard the blasting music from the red room. It wasn't difficult to figure out that, even after everything tonight, this house was already back to normal. It seemed that would be the cycle: fuck something up, fix that something, and forget the something ever happened.

Heading into the red room was an experience. I felt stronger than I had before like I could run a marathon. Maybe that was an emotional thing or a bitten by a vampire thing, but I liked it whatever it was. It made me feel just as strong and fast as Colby, especially when I saw him lying across his chair in nothing out of the ordinary, yet something so sentimental: it was the outfit he'd worn when he first came to me to start something, demanding to know my feelings for him. Things felt like they'd been so different then.

Colby glanced away from his phone when I opened the door, his eyes flicking up and down my body before the mark on my neck, which was still plenty on show to the others from the ponytail. I had no intention whatsoever of hiding it.

"Looking good, Beck," Tara said in amusement, leaning forward on Jake's lap. "What's the occasion?" She was eyeing my mark, too.

I crossed my arms over my chest, one eyebrow raised and a bitch face at the ready. "None of your fucking business." I snapped, feeling a breeze as Colby joined me in the doorway. His fingers slid easily through mine. I tried not to acknowledge my heart skipping a beat.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Elton warned me.

"Like get laid?" I remarked. His head jerked to me in surprise, though he was smirking. He nodded at me, motioning at Colby. I rolled my eyes and tugged Colby's hand to get us out of here. He quickly listened to me, but not quite how I expected.

He let go of my hand, circling his arm around my waist from behind and picking me up so fast I couldn't process it. I squealed in surprise as the world became a blur for half a second, then we were stood next to his car and he had the keys from me. I had to learn how to breathe again, holding a hand to my heart. "Fucking hell," I breathed, "do that again and I'm gonna kill you."

He didn't reply as he climbed into his car with a grin.
