(Best girl.)
"Uh, this is such a damn pain," Chris complains. In her hands is a bra that is two sizes too small for her, "This is the problem with living in Japan. They don't make clothes in my size." Chris was usually embarrassed about talking about this kind of thing. But you've been chipping at that tsun exterior for nearly a year now, ever since you started dating.
The two of you are on a date, "What? So you have to order them online?"
"Yeah, and they're expensive," she sighs, "Maria gave me some tips on where to find them. But that woman is a full-time pop-star! I don't have that kind of money."
"Couldn't you release an album of your own? You have a great voice."
Her face flushes a bright red, "No way! I don't want to!"
"I thought you went to a music academy..."
"I did. That doesn't mean I went to start parading myself around for the whole world to see. You're already bad enough, you shitty lecher."
"You should take it as a compliment, since you're so beautiful and all." She hits you on the arm and hangs the bra back up on the rack where she took it from. Chris is a lot of things, able to take a compliment is not one of them. Chris is pretty, sexy and adorable all in one. She's confident in some things but not so much in others. You always have to tread carefully with her, you never know what's going to piss her off.
You walk down the street hand in hand. There's a large variety of shops to visit, but the one that catches Chris' attention is a military surplus store tucked between an alleyway that you nearly walk straight past. She drags you back to the window and proceeds to name and describe every single airsoft firearm contained within the display – down to where they were produced, their rate of fire and the type of sights that they're using. You try to pay attention, you really do, but when Chris gets going, especially about weapons, she talks a mile a minute until your brain overheats.
"Come on Chris, are you just going to window shop all day?"
She snaps back to reality with a pout on her face, "Were you even listening?"
"I tried, I really did."
She punches your arm again, "Ow."
The rest of the day goes by much the same. You visit several other shops that catch your interest. Chris purchases some new clothes, in her typical gothic slash frilly style. She annihilates an entire plate of spaghetti in the blink of an eye, seemingly uncaring when the sauce ends up all over her face and mouth. She seems to be building up to something, the penny finally drops just as the sun is starting to set.
She finally blurts it out before you leave, "W-Would you like to come to my apartment?"
You try to keep the excitement off of your face, "Sure." The trip over to her home feels like an eternity, even though it's only a ten-minute walk from the city centre. "Excuse me," you declare as you finally cross the threshold into her door. Chris is clearly nervous about something. You follow her through into the main living space. It's sparsely furnished, but nice enough despite that. There's a couch and TV.
The most notable feature is an elaborate shrine leaning against one of the walls. It dominates the space both literally and visually. Chris kneels in front of it and invites you to join her. You kneel next to her and finally realize what it's for. A small picture of two people is perched atop the stone obelisk in the middle. One of them bares a striking resemblance to Chris, with lavender hair and gentle eyes.
"Did you bring me to meet your parents?" you ask.
"Hm. Well, if you think it's weird..."
"No, it's fine."
