When Cole had to leave I went back to work since my break was over. I cleared up our table while he kissed my cheek and squeezed my hand. I made sure to wipe down the table for the next person to sit before I went back behind the register and put my apron on.

"Calum didn't seem to like your boyfriend." Carol said softly and gave me a knowing look.

"He has his red head he shouldn't be bothered. I think you're making stuff up." I said and had her tie the apron for me.

"I may be old Brenna but I'm not crazy, nor am I blind. Heather noticed too." She said matter of factly.

"Well it doesn't matter what you saw. I have Cole and he has her." I said and went up to the register as someone walked up to order.

The rest of my shift was rather boring. Calum had actually left, for the first time in weeks he left before closing. I was a little afraid to walk to my car tonight, but luckily I got a spot extremely close to the building today. So hopefully I'd be fine but I'll definitely need to get some stuff to keep me safe from now on. I can't just rely on someone who clearly isn't that reliable.

"You alright getting home sweetie?" Carol asked as we all got our stuff so we could go.

"Yeah I'll be fine tonight my car is right there. I just might be a little late tomorrow, I'm gonna have to get some stuff." I said and put my thin jacket on over my t-shirt.

Both of them new about that terrible night that somehow bonded me and Calum together. Heather was like my mom in a way and Carol was like an second grandmother to me. They were like my second family so I told them just as much as I told my friends.

It was weird to think that such a terrible night bonded me with someone else, especially Calum. I could hardly stand him before, but now I felt safe with him and comfortable all the time. It hurt a bit when he left with her instead of staying with me, just because I had gotten so used to him protecting me.

"No worries honey, Wednesdays are usually slow at that time of day anyway. We'll handle it take your time, we just want you to be safe." She said and kissed my temple before she walked towards the door.

"Love you guys, see you tomorrow." I called out before I closed the door and headed to my car.

I got to my apartment complex safely, and managed to get up to my apartment safely as well. Kendall was laying on the couch with a huge bowl of popcorn in one hand and a bottle of beer in the other while she stared at the tv. She must've had a rough night.

"You alright Ken?" I asked and gave her a concerned look.

"Michael's just an idiot, nothing new." She sighed and tossed some popcorn in her mouth. I just now noticed the five other empty bottles of beer sprawled out over the coffee table.

"What did he do this time?" I asked and picked up the empty bottles so I could throw them in the recycling.

"He kissed another girl." She said with her eyes nearly half closed. She must've had something stronger before because beer usually doesn't do much to her.

"Seriously? Who?" I asked and stood in front of her.

"No idea, some random chick. That's five fucking years of my life wasted." She said and threw popcorn at the sappy romance movie that was playing on the screen.

"Did you talk to him? Maybe it was a mistake or something." I said and picked up the popcorn and cleaned up any other mess she has made while I was gone.

"Not many other girls have blue hair Bren so he can't even use the excuse that he thought it was me. He's just an idiot that threw away a diamond." She said and finished off her beer.

"Damn right he did." I said and took her empty bottle and put a full one in her hand. Just as she started chugging I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Part of me wanted it to be Calum calling to apologize for leaving me and being weird with me today, but I knew that was a long shot. I was let down when I saw Luke's contact photo pop up on my screen.

"What's up Lucas?" I asked and let out a sigh as Kendall yelled at the couple on the tv.

"You need to get up here now." He said with the sound of things breaking in the background.

"I'm not leaving Kendall alone." I said and put the rest of the pack of beer and a bottle opener on the coffee table for whenever she wanted another one.

"I'll send Ashton down or something. I just need you to come up here and help Michael get his shit together." He said frantically.

"It's his own fault." I muttered.

"Yeah I know and so does he but that won't make him calm down. Get your ass up here now or else I might go crazy." He said and I just sighed and agreed.

"I'm going upstairs but Ashton's coming down." I said and she just waved me off with the bottle in her mouth.

I passed Ashton as I went up the stairs to his apartment and we exchanged a look. Usually Michael and Kendall bickered but it was always out of love and whatever. They were just that kind of couple. We never expected anything like this to happen.

"What's going on in here?" I asked when I saw Luke with his back against the wall and Michael on the other side of the open apartment throwing things.

"He's furious Bren, I have never seen him this mad. Me and Ash tried literally everything but it just made him more mad. He's gonna break at some point and you're the only one that can deal with that other than Zoe but you're the closest thing right now." He said and looked between me and Michael. He was shouting curse words at himself as he threw things all around the place. One of the dining chairs only had two legs at this point and there were broken dishes everywhere.

"I don't want him to hit me with anything." I said and hid behind Luke when something came our way.

"Mike, Mike... Brenna's here. Talk to Brenna." He said which didn't do much.

"Mike calm down, let me help you." I said just as he collapsed against the wall and started panting. He was exhausted, I don't know how long he's been throwing this tantrum but it tired him out.

"Come sit, talk to me what happened?" I asked and pulled him over to the couch and had him sit between me and Luke.

"I'm such a fucking idiot. I'm such an idiot." He said in frustration and pulled at his hair. I didn't notice he had been crying until now, but he had been crying.

"What happened? Tell me what you did." I said and rubbed his back.

"We got into a nasty fight because some guy was checking her out. She was mad that I was getting mad about it because 'I always check other girls out all the time.' She told me to leave her alone so I just sat at the picnic table in the park where we were sitting and tried to calm myself down. Then some girl, I don't even know who she was but she just came up to me and started flirting with me. I didn't flirt back because I love her, I love Kendall more than anything on this planet. But when she saw Kendall come back for her phone she just kissed me. I couldn't pull away because she was holding onto my hair tightly, so it looked like I was kissing her but I wasn't. I swear to god Brenna I would never do that to her." He said and looked at me sadly and tears in his eyes. I wanted to cry for him right now. I probably shouldn't feel bad but both of them were my best friends, and after hearing both sides of the stories I know this whole thing is just a misunderstanding.

"It's alright I believe you, me and Luke believe you." I said and pulled his head onto my shoulder and rubbed his back.

"She'll listen to you don't worry." Luke said and rubbed his back too.

"You've been together for five years Mike, you've gone through everything, this won't tear you apart." I said reassuringly and let him let all of his sad emotions out.
