53 - why hasn't he asked?

Rosetta's POV:

11th December

Update on my life this past week:
- the past week I've been waiting for the inevitable but it hasn't come; James hasn't asked me to the ball which could cause an issue as I really don't want to go with Lockhart,
-Not only this but it would seem that Remus hasn't asked Sirius either and those two are dating!
- I've still had some bad nightmares where my brother tortures me but these are less frequent and I can feel it's not really him, most of my dreams include me just speaking to my brother, just speaking, catching up, it's becoming our form of therapy in a way, it's like when we were kids we'd always tell each other everything and it's like that again, I couldn't be happier about this obviously.
- me, Rem, Lily and Reg have still been researching to try to find a way to get to my brother but it doesn't seem to be helping at all even with me being able to speak with him; speaking of which I think Lily's jealous that I can speak to him because he's her brother too but it's because he's my twin so there's nothing I can do about that, that I know of.

"Breakfast time!" Reg cheers once I exit the Gryffindor common room
"It sure is" I raise my eyebrows amused
"Thank goodness your here he's been annoying the heck out of me" the fat lady groans
"He annoys everyone" I giggle at the look on Reg's face
"Haha" he narrows his eyes "come on I'm hungry"
"Your always hungry" I say
"Am not" he goes defensive
"Are to"
"Am not"
"Are to"

"Am not" I smile hoping the trick will work
"Are to" I raise my eyebrows "shut up"
"I didn't say anything" I raise my hands

"And how old are you two?" Rem asks as we sit at the Gryffindor table
"Who's side are you on?" Reg demands
"My own obviously" he smugly remarks
"Don't sass us" he chuckles "leave that for Sirius" he stops laughing immediately and blushes a bright pink "awww your blushing"

"I will save you my love!" Sirius gets up acting all high and mighty, he pretends to gallop over on a horse, pretends to get off and picks up, no joke, picks up Remus and exclaims "my dear I am here to save you" the whole hall is silent watching the couple amused, Sirius puts Remus down and pokes me and Reg "they are dead you are safe" me and Reg play dead. Rem shakes his head
"Your so weird" he sits down in front of me and Reg again and Sirius to top the act off, jumps onto the table and bows
"Thank you thank you, I'm here all week" the hall erupts into laughter and then Sirius sits next to Rem and begins piling his plate with food like nothing happened.

I will say since them two became a couple I have become closer with Sirius, much to Lily's distaste, and surprisingly so has Reg, they've been acting like brothers. You can see the clear similarities between them, they both act a bit cocky but there both sassy and very dramatic as you have just seen.

"Seriously how much food do you need?" I ask Sirius whilst looking at his plate in distaste
"I'm a growing boy Rose" comes his response
"Don't speak with your mouth full" I demand
"Okay mum" I roll my eyes
"Don't call me that" he shrugs and goes back to his plate
"Welcome to my life" Reg exclaims "this is what I grew up with, oh woe is me"
"Just eat your food"
"Yes mam" he salutes and starts eating
"You know sometimes you really do act like there mother" Rem says amused
"Haha"

I feel someone's gaze on me, I look up to see my sister watching my interactions with my group, that feels weird to say, my group which now strangely includes Sirius who, honestly, just slotted in without me noticing. But Lily's not the only one, I notice Potter watching us, I smile slightly and turn away quickly when I feel my cheeks heating up
"Oooh" Reg mocks
"Go back to your food" he does so laughing

"Oh got to go" Reg gets up
"Why?" I ask confused
"Quidditch practice, Malfoy thought it'd be a great idea to have practise an hour before the match and I can't ditch it because he's looking for a reason to kick me off already, the only reason I'm still on the team is because I'm actually a good keeper"
"Good luck" he winks back and leaves the hall
"Wait so which team are you going to cheer, because you've got a best friend on each team?"
"Huh?"
"Well I'm in your house and I'm one of your best friends but Reg is in Slytherin so who are you supporting?"
"Oh so you've just given yourself a title of best friend?" I ask
"Can't get rid of me now" I shake my head
"Well I'll have you know I'm cheering both"
"You can't do that" Sirius says
"Of course I can, I have a friend on each and I'm a gryffindor, besides your lucky I'm even going" I explain
"Why?"
"Oh" Rem speaks up "Rose struggles with social anxiety, she's only okay right now because she's with us and most attention is on us, well mostly you, because your loud" Rem explains
"Oh sorry I didn't know" Sirius apologises awkwardly
"It's alright" we fall silent
"Anyway who do you thinks going to win?" Rem asks breaking the silence that had fallen over us
"No idea"
"Gryffindor" me and Sirius say at the same time "you don't know" Sirius says incredulously
"No and regardless of which team wins I'll be happy for one of you, you or Reg" I shrug
"Well we'll win"
"Okay"

Time skip

"Gryffindor wins" Alice says over the microphone

Sirius flies over
"Told you so" bops me on the nose and then joins James

"Wait she's friends with Sirius?"
"Who is she?"
"Why?"

Not again, arghhh I hate being the centre of attention, I grab Remus' hand and we leave the stands
"Had to get away from the chatter" I explain
"Yeah I get that"

"Woooooooooo!!!!" Sirius cheers and practically skips over to us, James tagging on behind him
"Congrats" he winks at me and turns his attention to Remus and I'm left standing with James, awkward, I cough
"Congratulations"
"Thanks Rose" I nod

Why hasn't he asked me to the ball?

I'm going to have to go with Lockhart aren't I?

Argh!
