storms

daydreams

gloves on coats
and hands on
sweaters
cups of coffee
words unfettered
by the
chains
of our
reality
bring back
romancing
marches and
waltzes
fingers that
dance out
over the ebony
and ivory
like birds flying
south
for the winter
dark ruffled hair
like ruffled feathers
bring back
romancing
paints of oil
and of acrylics
hold me tight
because you're
going to miss me
champagne
secrets
and sinatra-sweet
melodies
that speak of
forevers
bring back
romancing
walks on the
shore
while the moonlight
glitters
stories told by the
crackling fire
that warms away
the bitter chill
from the palms of
hands
that ache to
touch
bring back
romancing
alcoves of darkness
where bodies are
pressed up
against stone walls
and words that
cannot be unsaid
for a thousand years
are whispered
reverently
bring back
romancing
and autumn
sunsets
the feeling of
sun-kissed hair
slipping through
your fingers
the way
time has
slithered away
from you
bring back
romancing
pops of
color
in the black-and-white
monochrome
mess that is this
world
take my hand
take my heart
and hold it tight
bring back
romancing
all the pieces of me
collected
in the palms of your
hands
lilting lyricisms penned
across the
pages of your
journal
like our love
across the
pages of time
bring back
romancing
scrawling scripts
and scribble-filled
margins
elegies, eulogies
"till death do us part"ings
the life that fills your
soul
when you see my face

so that it never has to
