back to my old righteous poetry!

if the world was
dying
who would
notice?
would lace-trimmed
silk curtains
be
pulled back
and tied up
or would we continue
living in
oblivion
because i see
the hurting and the
poor
all around me
but some of us
drift through the
world
with blind eyes
that only look upon
wealth-
and the art of
broken hearts
is splattered across
buildings
from the now-capped
nozzles
of cheap dollar store
bottles
but the rich kids
with their
spray paint
living for the
aesthetic
stain their
butterflies and sunshine
over years of
history
they say,
"we can
stamp down
history
if it's not
our
version
of history, though
right?"
and the institutions say
yes
and the parents say
yes
and the schools and the
towns
and the presidents say
yes
because they will
pay
when they grow up
for the
campaigns
of politicians
more crooked
than san francisco's
lombard street
they will pay
for another generation's
fine leather shoes
that are used to
step on people
like you and me
they will pay
for buckets of
dye
to whitewash history
and take away
accomplishments
from all people
even themselves
the world is
dying
and nobody has
noticed
but it's only because
we have learned to
keep our heads down
and to
ignore
what they tell us not to
see.
