for the weekend
to your cabin in the
woods
where sprites are as
common
as chewed-up gum
lead me over paths
that i haven't traveled on
since i was
young
take me on a
trip
to the paradises
that are lost
to those of us who
succumb
to the
dull grays
in a world that demands
devotion to
color
take me on a
trip
to wonderland
one last time
because i know that i've
chosen
this life
but i can't help but
hoping
that i can escape it
for one more night
take me on a
trip
for the weekend
to a place that i've
forgotten
because age takes away
your memory
when all you want to do is
to remember
and perhaps if the
dark green paths
were etched into my
mind
i would be trying a little
harder
to survive.
