Chapter Thirty Six: reformed Carter
Carter's pov

I pick one of my best suite, this is a big day for me. I stand in front of the mirror, fixing my tie that cost me at least four thousand dollars.

My suite alone was seventy thousand dollars, it was my first purchase when I reached my first ten million in the bank.

My hair was cut but not too much, my natural curls fell right onto my forehead.

As sad as this day is for me, I am also happy in a way. I'm still young, only twenty-eight, I've got a lot to learn, A lot more to experience and I'd love to explore without having to worry about the police and to start having a family now.

"Boss, we're ready for you." Tristan says and I nod. He nods back at me and closes the door behind him once he leaves.

I take my keys for my office and place them in my pocket, I take a look at my office for the last time.

I had so many memories in this office, some of them good, like me and Neveah making love, but most memories terrible.

I stand with my hands in my pockets and close my eyes.

"It's for Neveah and Xylon." I remind myself and I walk out my office.

The hall was filled with all the men that have working with me, some I grew up with - like Tristan.

"Good afternoon everyone." I say and the room is immediately taken over by silence. "I'm so glad everyone could make it. I have a very important announcement to make, but first I need to thank you guys."

"Thank you guys for being my guys. Each and everyone of you guys here are the reason why this gang has been named the most dangerous, richest and successful gangs in the world. We're making world history boys!" I shout and they cheer and chant in excitement. I wait for them to calm down before I start talking again.

"As your leader, and as your boss this is something I should've said a lot more but gentlemen, so fucking proud of you." They clap and nod in unison.

"We love you, boss!" One of them shouts from the crowd and I laugh.

"This gang has been all I've ever known for the longest of time, this only home I've ever had and it will continue to be my home. However," I stop and rub my bottom lip with my thumb, my other hand gripping the keys to my office in my pocket.

I feel tears fill my eyes I blink them away, I chuckle and turn my back to the crowd trying to regain seriousness.

"However," I continue and turn around to face them again. "One always has to move out of the home. I'm leaving the gang." I say loudly and chatter is spread across the room.

"Boss, what are you talking about?" Tristan shouts and I laugh.

"I'm leaving, I'm... leaving." I repeat and I wait for all the chatter to die down.

"Tristan," he looks at me in confusion as I call him up to stand with me. "Tristan Barry, you are the new gang leader, I'm leaving my... My empire, my dynasty... My home, to you. Take care of it."

"Boss, no. We need you." He says softly loud enough for me to hear "Look, I don't know how to even cook mac and cheese, you can't possibly trust me with your legacy."

"I trust you." I say quietly, "I trust all of you." I say louder. "And if you ever need me and you're in desperate need of me again, I promise I'll be there. My loyalty stands here with you, you are all my family. Everyone give it up for Tristan."

The men clap and chant for Tristan. As violent as my men could get, they had all formed a brotherhood here and I'm glad we all see each other as family.
