"Happy birthday darling" Remus wrapped his arms around Selene's waist from behind her as she and Marlene stood in the corridor outside the common room
"Thank you love" she smiled turning to face him
"How does it feel to be of age?" He asked
"How about I say that I finally feel like I'm not being watched and we all pretend I mean it?" she said enthusiastically
"What you aren't excited?" Marlene asked
"I don't like my birthday" she shrugged
"Well for all we've done to get you here, I'd hope you could at least act grateful"
"Of course I'm grateful" she rolled her eyes "I just don't like being the center of the attention,"
"That's literally what you spent the entire last year being" Remus pointed out
"Yes so you could understand my hesitancy to be the center of attention by choice"
"Yes we know you said no party"
"Yes and I know you're throwing one anyway"
"We are not!" Marlene dropped her jaw
"Sirius told me"
"Bastard" Marlene uttered under her breath
"You guys had one rule" Selene frowned
"Well if our defense, you weren't supposed to know" Remus smiled
"Yeah" Marlene nodded quickly
"Usually I would tell you to cancel it, but I will refrain from being a bitch, even though today is the one day I should be allowed all the bitchiness I please"
"You are allowed all the bitchiness you want" Marlene ruffled her hair "Except cancelling the party"
"Whatever let's go or we'll miss breakfast"

"Look who it is!" Sirius cheered as he and James ran down the aisle between tables in the Great Hall
"Happy birthday Selene" James and Sirius both hugged her and kissed her forehead before chaotically climbing over the table to sit on the other side, next to Lily and Mary.
"It's your birthday..." James started
"So you know what that means..." Sirius shimmied in his seat
"No you don't" she quipped pulling out her wand
"HAPP-"
"Silencio!" Selene cut James off with a silencing spell
Sirius gasped as James silently cursed and yelled,
"No." he scrambled out of his seat "YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY WORDS!" He yelled falling off the bench and popping up to his feet
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" He ran down the aisle again, this time heading towards the door screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST SELENE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!"
"Bloody idiot" she laughed, soon followed by a piece of toast hitting her in the face. She looked over where James was silently yelling and waving his hands
"Oh... well I was going to say hush, but" she trailed off into a fit of laughter which only got another piece of toast thrown at her
"Happy birthday Selene" she turned to see Alice Fortescue and Frank Longbottom holding hands smiling at her.
