"3...2...1..."

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" everyone chorused clinking glasses together and throwing back champagne.

Remus finished his glass then pulled Selene in for a kiss, tasting the alcohol on her tongue. He wrapped his hand around her waist, as she smirked into the kiss.

Lily and James were also kissing, leaving a very awkward Peter staring at Sirius, 

"Don't you dare try to kiss me" he pointed at Sirius

"Oh c'mon Pete just one kiss" Sirius joked ruffling his hair fake leaning in

"In you dreams Padfoot" Peter laughed pushing his face away

"I wonder if they're in here" a muffled voice came from the other side of the room

James and Lily pulled apart as Fleamont walked in the room with a glass of red wine in hand,

"Oh." he stopped walking. Remus and Selene broke apart "Yes, Euphemia they're in here" Selene bit her lip in embarrassment and hid her head in Remus' chest

"We have some guests wanting to talk to you, when you get the chance" he cleared his throat. 

"Okay Pops we'll be out in a second" James nodded still holding onto Lily

"Alright" he laughed closing the door behind him. 

"Holy shit" Lily bit her lip "Holy shit"

"Wicked" Sirius laughed

"Shut up Sirius" Lily groaned "They hate me, they hate me, I've barely met them and they walk in on me snogging their son, oh shit"

"Lils no, it's totally fine. It's not like they don't... know we do that... type of stuff" he cringed as he kept speaking

"Oh for fuck's sake I'm screwed" She buried her head in her hands "That's so embarrasing"

"Red, listen to me" Sirius spoke up, drunk "You gotta claim your territory, show 'em who Prongs belong to, y'know?"

"Merlin" James laughed goofily "Okay well I love you Lily but we got to go socialize" he smiled started to pull Lily towards the door, but Lily was rooted, staring at James

"What?" he asked

"You love me?" she asked softly. James smile dropped realizing what he said

"I- uh... I do?" he said unsurely. Lily bit back a smile, 

"I love you too" she jumped into James arms, kissing him once more, and as elated as could be James lifted her off the ground spinning in a circle

"James are you coming?" Fleamont's voice appeared once more on the other side of the door as he entered the room once again, 

"Oh my- sorry just come when you get the chance" he winked closing the door

"I'm gonna kill myself" Lily spoke after a moment of silence

Once they all were finally back in the main living area it didn't take long for adults to cling onto them for conversation.

When one old lady made a beeline for Sirius, calling out his name and waving her hand, Sirius grabbed the first person he could reach, who happened to be Selene. 

"Sirius what are you-" she started

"If I'm going down you're going down with me" he said quickly "Hi Becky, oh it's been so long— too long" his tone switched to the one he always used around adults, more proper, loud and fake.
