Chapter 12 - The Video part 1

Jeff pulls the trigger but the gun jams and Harper lets out a sigh. Harper then grabs the gun out of his hand but Jeff doesn't give up. He stands on Harper's hair causing her to stay still. Harper could feel the blood dripping from her nose and onto the floor. Jeff then gets distracted and takes his foot off of Harper's hair. Harper then gets up and swipes her dads legs with the gun. Harper now has him pinned against the floor and she is in control
"I thought you had changed! I really wanted to believe that you would come back and want me in your life! Clearly I was wrong!" Harper shouts as she gets a pounding in her head
"I have changed! But you killed them Harper! The reports said-" Jeff shouts before Harper interrupts him
"I was in the car! But you were too busy to notice that! You never left mum or Caroline's side! Whilst I was rotting in a hospital room at the other side of the hospital! I was a 14 year old girl! I thought my dad blamed me for what happened but I knew deep down that he was gonna come back! But you didn't did you? You let me go into foster care!" Harper shouts whilst pointing the gun at his head
Just then Kelly runs in along with the police
"Harper?!" Kelly says
"Kelly!" Harper says as she drops the gun and the police take Jeff away
"Your face?" Kelly says looking at Harper's swollen eye and bloody nose
"I'm fine!" Harper says touching the cut on her head
Kelly guides her outside and everyone cheers. Harper sends Laura off with her parents and they head back to the firehouse. Harper walks into her quarters to see a video tape lying on her bed
"Hey Connie?" Harper shouts
"Yes Captain?" Connie replies
"What's that?" Harper asks pointing to the tape
"I was clearing out the firehouse and this had your name on it!" Connie says smiling
Harper then walks into the common room and places the tape into the tv . She sits down on the couch and everyone walks in and there eyes are drawn to the tv when they see Otis
"So! I guess if you guys are watching this then I've died in fire! It might have been 2 years ago or 10! But I thought that it was important to make this!" Otis says on the video
"What's this?" Cruz asks sitting next to Harper
"I'm not quite sure" Harper replies
"This is the part of the job that you don't wanna tell anyone about! Or else there would be no CFD! I want to make one thing clear and that's whoever was in the fire with me when I didn't make it out! Don't blame yourself if you made it out and I didn't! Because 9 times out of 10 there was simply nothing you could do!" Otis says with tears in his eyes
No one has said a word as they are too focused on Otis
"All I wanted to say was thank you! To everyone at the firehouse! Harper you were an amazing captain and it was amazing to be able to watch you grow from a paramedic all the way to a captain on truck! You guided us through so many things and most of us wouldn't be here without you! Cruz you were always by my side and never let me down! Living with you was the best thing I've ever done! I love you brother! The whole of truck 81! It was a pleasure working with you! And thank you for always having my back in fires and on calls! Kelly make sure you treat Harper right! She's been through so much and she loves you with every bone in her body!" Otis says smiling
Harper lets a single tear roll down her face and lets out a weak smile and everyone is in tears....
