Chapter 45 - Rehab

Dawson loads Kelly up onto the stretcher. Boden hovering as she does so. They load Kelly up into the back of the ambulance and Dawson looks at Harper
"Come on then" Dawson says but Harper doesn't move
"Harper?" Casey says as tears form in Harper's eyes
"I'm not going" Harper states
"You've gotta go it's Kelly!" Herrmann adds
"Your already loosing one commanding officer your not loosing another one this shift" Harper says as Dawson sighs
Dawson then goes to close the doors and Harper stops them
"Take care of him for me?" Harper asks as Dawson nods and smiles
Dawson then closes the doors and Casey hits the back of the doors. They drive off and Harper watches them with caseys arms around her
"I knew" Harper adds
"What honey?" Casey asks calmly
"I knew what he was doing! I knew he was taking my pills but I never said anything! Because I wanted him to feel like he could tell me if he was struggling!" Harper says as she sobs
"You know Kelly! He doesn't open up! To anyone" Casey says as Harper smiles
"Yeah I know" Harper says as she wipes her tears and walks in
The rest of shift goes by. Harper looks at the clock knowing she has to face the music and see Kelly. Shift is over and Harper jumps into her car which is parked in front of Kelly's. She drives to the hospital and takes a deep breath before getting out the car.
"Hi, I'm here to see Kelly Severide" Harper says
"Do you know what he was admitted for?" The nurse asks
"Umm an overdose" Harper adds
"Oh he was moved to the rehab facility in our psychiatric ward" The nurse says as she pulls up Kelly's file
"May I ask who his doctor is?" Harper asks dreading the name that's coming next
"Dr.Charles" The nurse answers as Harper sighs
"Of course it is" Harper mutters before smiling at the nurse and walking in
Harper walks up to see Dr.Charles looking at her
"What happened?" Harper asks
"We sat him down for an interview and" Dr.Charles says
"And?" Harper says eager to know more
"He's not doing great" Dr.Charles says as he gets the video up
*The video*
"I want my pills! Give me my pills" Kelly yells
"Your going through the withdrawal period Mr.Severide" Dr.Charles says calmly
"I need them! Give them to me now! Come on! Just one! I can't have you see me without them!!" Kelly yells as he fiddles with his hands
"Why do you want them so bad? How do they make you feel?" Dr.Charles asks
"I take them and everything goes away! All the problems! All the bad memory's! They make me happy...All the time!" Kelly says as he physically shakes
"But are they worth it?" Dr.Charles asks looking Kelly in the eyes
"They make me a better dad! A better husband! Harper would have left me a long time ago! I can't turn out like Benny! I just can't!" Kelly shouts
"Okay, I get it" Dr.Charles says
"No you don't! You don't have the feeling of watching your wife constantly being bored of you! Or unhappy with you! She deserves the whole fucking world! And I can't give that to her! But the pills can! Give them to me now!!" Kelly yells...
