Chapter 53 - Safe and Sound...Well maybe not for long

Harper is coughing like mad.
"Why the hell are they not coming in! I swear to god if it's trucks responding!" Harper yells as she try's to pull herself up
Harper can feel her chest getting tighter and tighter. She then hears footsteps at the top of the stairs
"Hello?" Harper shouts as a little boy appears
"H-Hi" The little boy replies
"I'm Harper honey! What's your name?" Harper asks as she gasps for air
"J-Joe" Joe replies
"It's nice to meet you Joe!" Harper says as she is reminded of Cruz
Harper knew that this Joe was going to be the one she saved. Even if it cost her, her life.
"I want you to come down here for me! And pull that piece of wood over there! Can you do that?" Harper asks as she points to the wood trapping her leg
"I think so" Joe says as he carefully walks down the stairs
He grabs the piece of wood freeing Harper's leg. Harper pulls herself up and notices the blood dripping from her abdomen. A piece of wood must have slashed her lower stomach. Harper takes off her jacket and does a really good job of hiding it.
"Come on" Harper says as she takes joes hand and leads him upstairs
Harper takes him to a window
"Was anyone else up here bud?" Harper asks as she gets down to his level
"My friend, Mateo! He was trapped" Joe says panicking
"Okay! Tell me where and I'll get him!" Harper says calmly
"In the back room! I don't know where though!" Joe says trying to look
"Okay! Now I want you to go down those stairs and straight out the door! My friends out there will help you!" Harper says as the Joe nods and runs out
Harper makes her way into the back room which seems to be where the fire started. Harper holds her breath and runs in. She searches high and low until she gets to a corner in the back of the room. She sees a little boy sitting shaking
"Mateo!" Harper says
"I'm Harper! I'm here to save you!" Harper says as she leans out towards but him clutches her abdomen
"A-Are you okay?" Mateo asks as he looks around the burning room
"I'm good! Are you okay?" Harper asks softly
"I think so" Mateo says
"Okay let's get you out of here!" Harper says as she takes his hand
Harper leads him out safely and he reunites with his mother.
"Get a hose on that! Every victim is out!" Harper orders
The fire gets put out and Harper is late to go visit Kelly. She runs over and jumps in her car. She checks her abdomen to see it still bleeding. She races to the hospital and all of the colour is drained out of her face
"You good Harper?" Maggie asks
"Yeah you look a little pale?" April says
"I'm great! Just need to see Kelly!" Harper shouts before running up
She opens his door and smiles at him
"I thought you weren't coming" Kelly says
"Yeah...So....So" Harper says as she feels dizzy
Harper then drops to the ground and everything goes black
"I need some help!" Kelly yells as he runs over to Harper...
