Security was definitely more your thing. Not that it was much different than what Mrs Potts initially hired you for, but at least it was official and you didn't have to answer that damn phone every five seconds. No more emails either. No more smiling at strangers all day.

You were now officially paid to read minds. Your last experience wasn't really a success, but the new paychek was more than enough to convince you to get better. The fact that Happy promised you there wouldn't be any dangerous parties until he was completely sure you were ready helped.

Also, it was either that or not having a job anymore. And you didn't know if anyone would hire you after the incident.

Marisa did say something however about it not really being what she had in mind when you had told her you wanted to do something with your life a few weeks ago. Just like everyone, she had seen the news and she wasn't a fan of you putting yourself in any kind of danger. She also said something about 'having a gift and using it to make money'. You had to agree with her that it was probably not the most ethical thing to do, but you had no real qualifications and to be honest, it was a lot of money.

And there was absolutely nothing dangerous in walking around the building reading minds. At least nothing an Advil couldn't fix. Sometimes you had to be there at a meeting to make sure no one was planning anything sketchy.

So far, the worst thing you had uncovered was a really bad case of disappearing office supplies. Didn't seem that dangerous to you. And the guy was so scared when you had told him not to steal any more staplers that you were pretty sure nothing would be missing anymore. You didn't tell anyone about it but kept the accountant in check. He was definitely terrified each time he ran into you in the hallway. The staplers were safe.

ou were so proud of yourself. A proud member of the security. Happy laughed when you told him what you were working on, but he decided to let you have your fun. He considered it as training. Most of your 'training' consisted in standing in the lobby and scanning every single person that entered the building.

Like today. You had been there for hours. You had to make sure everyone was clear, and they were. Nothing suspicious. Someone was probably cheating on their partner. Another one lost his dog and was late for work. You told Lucy about that one and she took care of the comforting part.

You were standing next to her desk, watching the main entrance and waiting for someone to get in. Your new position allowed the two of you to spend way more time together. You actually really liked her. She didn't say anything about the Incident, she just mentioned your ruined dress once. Marisa was probably never going to forget about the dress. She was talking about it every single day to remind you how dangerous your life was.

Anyway, you told Lucy about the mind reading. She had no idea why you had been relocated to security and you couldn't come up with a good enough explanation. You weren't really intimidating and there was no apparent reason as to why you were paid to stare at people all day. So you just told her the truth.

And now she saw you as some kind of superhero. That was far from the reality, but it was flattering. YN, saviour of staplers.

"Soooo, anyone having dirty thoughts ?" Oh, and she was really into gossiping.

"See that woman over there ?" You showed her a 30 something woman that was searching for something in her purse. "She's wondering if she'll have enough tampons. She always has a big flow on her second day."

"Ew."

"You wanted dirty." Lucy looked disgusted. It was fun being able to joke about what was going on in other people's heads without being judged. She often forgot it could go both ways and her mind was a never ending source of fun. "So you got a date tonight, huh ?" You laughed at how fast she could blush.
