You had no idea what happened. And what was still happening. The only thing you knew was that Lucy was still worried about you. And she was hoping you were going to be fine. She had no idea what was going on with you, but people were protecting her friend and that was enough for her.

Then she stepped outside of the building, and she fell on the ground. A woman screamed on the sidewalk, Bucky pushed you under Lucy’s desk, then the alarm went on. More people screamed and you saw Mrs Potts running out of the elevator while talking on her phone.

You tried to get back in Lucy’s head so many times your head was starting to hurt. You stood up and tried to figure out what to do with yourself. When did all those people get here ? You had no idea how long you had been sitting down there. You tried to ask someone what was going on but they didn’t even acknowledge your presence.

So you did what you were paid for. You sat on the edge of the desk, made sure you had the whole lobby on sight, and you started scanning.

What is wrong with these people ?
Always something happening here.
Poor thing. So young.
At least it was painless.
Not safe working for them.
Whoever did it, I hope they’re not here anymore.
Where is she ? I need those papers signed to get the body.
She’s pretty. Shit. Was.

You let out a grunt when you got distracted by someone coughing behind you.

“You shouldn’t be doing this, YN.” You turned your head towards the voice, only to see Bruce staring in the distance.

“I’m doing my job.”

“Not right now.” He looked at you, and you saw the pain in his eyes. “Come on, let’s get you somewhere quiet.”

“What if someone knows something ? I need to be here.”

“Nothing you’re going to hear right now is going to help you.” He handed you a tissue. “Besides, your nose is bleeding.”

You took it and wiped your face. You didn’t even notice you were bleeding. You jumped from the desk and followed him. You tried to look outside one last time. One last try. Maybe this time you’d get in her head. Just to be sure, but you couldn’t. She was not there anymore.

Bruce called the elevator, gently pushed you inside and pressed a button.

“See you up there.”

The doors closed and reopened a few moments later. You didn’t get out. They closed again but you still didn’t move. You were staring at the buttons in the elevator. They were fascinating. One of them lit up. When the doors opened up again, someone got in and pressed the same button Bruce did before. You smiled when you saw the other ones turn yellow as you were going higher. Really, fascinating.

“Why are you still in there ?” Mrs Potts. Did she sign the papers ? Actually you didn’t care much about that. Maybe she could explain to you why some buttons had numbers and others had letters. You were confused. It didn’t make any sense. Why would you put letters when the floors were sorted by numbers ? The doors opened up again and she got you out. “Ah, Bruce. I found someone.”

“How is it going downstairs ?” You decided you might as well follow them and looked around you. Did Bruce have enough money to afford a place like that ? And did he have to take the stairs all the way down each time ?  You spotted a couch nearby and went to sit on it.

“I like what you did with the place.” So she never came to visit her friend before ? He’d been living here for months, why wouldn’t she visit him ? Maybe they were not friends after all. You didn’t really know much about them anyway.
