Dahan-dahan ang naging lakad ko habang papalabas ako ng kwarto ni Mia. Hindi ko alam pero may parte sakin ang gustong marinig ang sasabihin ni Dave kay Mia. Nag-aalala ako na baka makasama ito kay Mia gayong hindi pa naman ito lubusang magaling.

"Ramon Herrera and Ellena Ranes are planning again something against you." I stopped in my tranced when I've heard what Dave said to Mia.

Tama ba ang narinig ko? Ellena Ranes? My ex-girlfriend? She was behind Haamiah's accident?

Hindi ako makagalaw dahil sa narinig. Was Dave pertaining to the same person? Pero pwedeng si Ellena nga ang tinutukoy niya, dahil nakita ko rin itong pumasok sa law firm na pinagtatrabahuan ni Mia. They were colleagues!

"How did you find out about this Dave?" Mia asked after a deafening silence that engulfed the whole room. Her voice is void of any emotions. Hindi ko marinig ang takot o pagkabahala man lang sa boses niya. She's ready to face them any moment again after being bedridden for 3 days straight now.

"Naalala mo yung huling dalaw ko sayo sa law firm?" Dave asked.

"Yes, what about that day?" She asked. "That was the day before the day of the trial." She added.

"Yup. Before I entered your office, I went to Anya's table and secretly put a small magnetic device. It was a voice recording device na binigay ng kaibigan ko sakin." Dave explained.

I looked back at them and I saw how serious they are right now. I know I should leave immediately, but I can't. It seems like my feet were stuck on the ground.

I stepped back when Mia met my eyes. Napalingon din sa gawi ko si Dave at ang dalawang kasama nito. Napangiwi ako at hindi alam ang sasabihin.

"Sorry, palabas na dapat a–" I was cut in the middle when Mia motioned me to come near her.

"Come here Ken." Tawag nito sakin sa malamyos na boses. Nagdadalawang-isip ako kung pupunta ba ako dahil alam ko namang naki-usap si Dave na maiwan muna sila.

"Sige na dre, lumapit ka na." Nakangising saad naman ni Dave ng mapansin ang pagdadalawang=isip ko.

Napabuntong-hininga muna ako bago dahan-dahang naglakad palapit sa tabi ni Mia. Agad na hinawakan ni Mia ang kamay ko ng makaupo ako sa tabi niya sa kama.

"Let me hold your hand please." Malambing na saad niya at sinandal ang ulo sa balikat ko. Agad naman niyang binaling ang atensyon kay Dave habang nilalaro ang mga daliri ko.

"What about the device again Dave?" She asked.

"As what I am saying, I put it there bago ako pumasok sa loob ng office mo. I was bothered with what you have told me last time na narinig mo silang magkausap ni Ellena. That's why I put that device under her table nung pumasok siya sa loob ng office mo para ipaalam na nasa labas ako." Pagpapatuloy ni Dave sa usapan nila ni Mia.

I was just listening intently to Dave just like Mia. I hold her hand tightly.

"That device was connected to my phone, kaya lahat ng conversation na malapit sa table ni Anya ay narerecord nito at pumapasok sa email ko. And yesterday, my phone beep and it was another recorded audio from Anya." Dave heave a sighed before he continued.

"It was Anya and Ellena on the line, and Ellena was asking Anya about your whereabouts." He added. I heard Mia tsked and sit properly beside me.

"Can I hear the record?" Mia asked in a serious tone. Dave nodded and picked his phone out of his pocket.

He's scrolling through his phone for a minute before he put it down on the bedside table and plays an audio. It was like 5 minutes before we heard someone walking hastily towards the direction of Anya's table.
