I sat on the sofa in the common room, listening to the arguing behind me. James and Remus versus Sirius and Peter. Lily and Marlene were sat beside me. Marlene was fussing over 'how cool my scars looked', while Lily was sifting through books looking at the wolfsbane potion.

"You left her to die!" James' statement made everyone fall silent, even the page Lily was turning had stopped in her fingers, the sentence catching her attention. "There's only one other werewolf that would even dare come on Hogwarts' grounds, do you know who that is?" Sirius and Peter were silent as Remus scoffed.

"Fenrir Greyback. That name sound familiar? You know, the one who turned me? And has now turned my girlfriend? Who, by the way, is now half blind, because you two were blocking the door!!" Remus snapped, shouting at two of his best friends.

"Moony, we were looking out for you two-"

"Like the night you took too long to open the common room door and I could have killed her?" Marlene turned around at the sound of a thump. I did the same, followed by Lily. Remus had grabbed Sirius by the collar of his shirt, pinning him to the wall. "Peter told her to run that time." Remus slammed him against the wall again. "James wanted to help her this time, but you wouldn't let him." I could see his chest heaving, his knuckles turning white. "Because of you she's almost died twice!"

"Then maybe she should stop hanging out with us!" Everyone fell silent.

"Okay." Remus shrugged, releasing his best friend with a smile. "I will too, then. I'll choose her over you any day."

"Why? Cause she's your girlfriend? That's pathetic-"

"No, because she's my closest, and oldest friend, and she's been through a lot more shit than any of us have. She's fucking traumatised, Sirius."

"Dude, we're all traumatised-"

"Have you been chased by two werewolves?" Sirius remained quiet. "You been bitten by one." He shook his head, staring Remus dead in the eye.

"You ever had the cruciatus curse used on you?" There was an awkward silence as to whether Remus would respond or not. Sirius had just squared up.

"Have your best friends ever left you for dead?" I could hear the snarl in Remus' voice, he was trying his best not to snap at Sirius again.

"No, but my parents hav-"

"Will you two stop playing the trauma card?!" I finally snapped, glaring at both of them. They stared at me in surprise. "We get it, Sirius, your parents are shit people." I looked to Remus. "Baby, I love you, but please shut up!" They both chose to avoid looking at anyone, opting to look at the wall or floor. "Sirius, you're a dick, end of conversation, I was screaming for help and told you what was going on and you still didn't open the door." Remus whipped around to face Sirius and glared at him. "Remus, you're no better!" He stared at me, hurt by my words. "You chased me through the school and tried to kill me-"

"That isn't my fault! I can't control that!" He snapped at me, earning a glare, which made him fall quiet, rubbing the back of his head with a sigh.

"James was the one who took me to Madam Pomfrey, he's the one who literally slept by my bed all night until he knew I was okay. He was willing to miss a quidditch game, as the captain, and where were you Remus?"

"In my defence, I didn't know you were involved last night..." I stared at him, rolling my eyes.

"And Sirius and Peter didn't tell you?" He looked to the floor and shook his head.

"Not this month." James and I shared a looks.

"I thought you guys were supposed to be friends?" The group of boys shared looks. "You've been best friends since first year..." I looked between them all. "And now you're at each other's throats...what the fuck happened?" Sirius just stared at me.

"Two of the Marauders got together and it messed with the dynamic." I shared a glance with Remus.

"What do you mean?"

"It means we can't treat you how we used to cause Moony gets protective." Peter explained, speaking up fro the first time in this conversation. "You're barely with us anymore, you're just with Remus." I looked over to James, who just shrugged a little in agreement. "You're not the two friends who got together anymore, you're the girlfriend." My expression fell. I'm...'the girlfriend'? What does that even mean? They couldn't treat me how they used to? Like I was their sister, their best friend? I'm just Remus' girlfriend now? Is that how they see me...?

"You guys see me as 'just Remus' girlfriend'?"

"You're one of our closest mates...but you do spend a lot of time with Remus, so we don't see you much anymore..." I stared at James.

"Really...?" He nodded. I glanced at the girl beside me. They just avoided my eyes. I bit my lip. "Remus can I talk to you please..?" He stared at me, surprised and nervous.

"(N/n), sweetheart-"

"Please?" I stood up and wandered over to the portrait hole, hearing him follow. Once the portrait had closed behind us. "For the sake of the Marauders, I think it's best if this, stops..." I motioned between the two of us.

"You were never good with words, we're you?" I shook my head with a sad smile. "Are we doing this so things'll go back to normal?" I nodded silently, as Remus sighed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "It's first year all over again..." A sad smile crossed my lips.

"I love you, Rem." He smiled with a quiet laugh, leaning down to rest his forehead against mine.

"I love you too, (N/n)." His lips lightly brushed mine before he pressed a longing kiss to my lips. He straightened from his relaxed slouched position briefly to cup my cheek, his thumb gently tracing my newest scars as he lengthened the kiss.

"So, for the sake of our friends?" I smiled softly, my nose almost brushing with Remus'. He sighed and nodded.

"For the sake of our friends." He quickly ducked down and pecked my lips before walking off into the common room.

"What'd you two talk about? Awfully quiet out there." Marlene looked between us sceptically.

"Yeah, cause we know how to break up, unlike you and Sirius who always have to make a scene." Remus chuckled, dropping onto the arm chair. Lily and Marlene looked over to me immediately when the words 'break up' left Remus' mouth.

"You guys broke up? Why?" We both shrugged, sharing a smile.

"So things can go back to normal. It's what you guys wanted, right?" I looked over the back of the sofa and the three remaining, shocked Marauders.
