I walk into the school and Chase is the first person running to my side.

You've gotta be fucking kidding me.

I stop in my tracks, slightly annoyed.

"Hey." He smiles

I hold up my hand in a low effort wave and continue walking.

He keeps following.

"H-how are you?" Chase asks.

"Fine." I answer.

"Cause you left so suddenly last week—"

"Chase.." I sigh.

"I know you don't want to talk about it—"

"Then don't push me."

"I just think—  Will you stop for a second?" Chase grabs my arm and I come to a standstill.

I have no other option but to look into his concerned eyes. It's just like how Aron looks at me sometimes.

"I just.. We're friends right?" Chase asks.

Um.. no.

"I guess." I shrug.

"Well, friends should be honest about how they feel,"

I roll my eyes.

"I care about you, Sky. I wanna know you better." He eyes me earnestly.

I look down at my feet and shovel my right foot on the floor.

"We should grab a coffee together." Chase suggests.

I sigh tiredly.

"Chase.." I protest.

"Come on! It'll be fun."

"I don't want you to get the wrong idea." I hate those words. I hate that I have to use them.

"I won't. We're friends." Chase shrugs.

I'm friends with a ninth grader.

"Fine."

"Succes!" Chase declares excitedly.

"You're such a dork."

"I know." He smiles. "So, right after school?"

I nod.

"I'll wait for you at the parking lot." Chase smiles as he makes his way to class.

God, he's practically beaming with delight.

I watch him run off.

Then someone wraps their arm around me and my heart takes off.

I'm mounted to the floor with fear as I look up.

It's Aron.

I push him.

"Jesus, you scared the crap out of me."

I breathe again. Apparently I was holding my breath.

"What was that all about?" He asks.

"What?"

"Chase. He looked awfully happy for a suicidal wreck."

I jab him hard.

"Ow!" He chuckles and gives me a playful push.

I laugh a little too.

Aron wraps his arm around me again and I feel comfortable and safe. We make our way to class.

"Chase and I are going for coffee after school."

He frowns.

"Why?" He asks. "Because he wants to?"

"Yeah." I shrug.

"You know he thinks it's a date, right?" Aron asks.

"He doesn't. I made it very clear."

"Yeah, well, you can never be clear enough with that guy."

"You need to stop hating on him. He's a good person." I say.

"A good person with his head in his ass." He mocks.

I sigh.

"I don't think it's a good idea."

"I'm sure it'll be fine."

"No― I mean, I don't want you to go."

I frown. Is he serious?

"Why?"

"Because he's gonna make a move on you again and I don't feel like beating someone up today." He shrugs.

"I told you he won't."

"You don't know that. Just say you have other plans." He says casually.

"No?" I'm really confused as to what Aron's deal is.

We stop walking.

I pull away.

"You're not serious, right?"

"Damn straight I'm serious. I don't want this." Aron says.

"Well, too bad." I answer irritated.

I walk into the classroom and sit down next to a random guy so I don't have to sit with Aron.

Aron follows quickly.

"What is your problem? Maybe you should consider my feelings for once?" Aron says.

The guy next to me is practically shaking in his seat.

Aron gives him a look that has 'fuck off' written all over it.

The guy tries to get up, I grab his arm and force him back down.

"Stay." I say.

"You don't decide what I do, Aron. I can hang out with whoever the fuck I want!"

"Not when the person you want to hang out with has been trying to get with you since day one?" Aron looks at the guy next to me again. "Didn't I tell you to leave?"

The guys gets up again.

"Sit!" I command.

The guy shoots back down to the chair. "Oh God, oh God.." He murmurs to himself.

"Everything that happened so far has been my fault. So if you wanna blame someone, blame me." I say.

"You know what? I do blame you. If you had been clear with that idiot in the first place, none of this would be happening!"

"There! We finally agree on something!"

"But that doesn't take away from the the fact that that snake will use anything as an opportunity to make a move on you!'

"Snake? He's harmless!"

Aron rolls his eyes.

We hadn't even noticed the teacher come in.

"Aron? Sky?" She demands.

We both look at her, she looks very annoyed.

"May I start my class?"

I cross my arms.

Aron gives the guy next to me one deadly look before taking a seat at the back of the class. Loudly.

"Oh my God. Oh my God. He's gonna kill me." The guy whispers, cramping up in fear.

"Not if I kill him first." I mutter under my breath.
