A S H T O N

It was four in the morning when Puzzle got too tired to keep driving and decided to stop off at a hotel for the night. Blake had given him his business card, and I had the bank card Blake had given me the first time that we made a trip to Maine. It was raining, we didn't really even know what state we were in at this point but it didn't really matter. We were somewhere between Virginia and Maine, and we were exhausted.

The hotel was dark and gloomy looking, a little creepy even. The light kept flickering in the lobby and I could tell that it was freaking Puzzle out so I'd stepped in and handled setting up a room with the greying haired man behind the counter. The top of the mans head was bald and he had long stringy grey hair hanging down around his shoulders. His gunmetal blue eyes were beady and seemed to stare just a little too long at the two of us as we handed him our ID's.

Despite the creepy lights and the rather unsettling man in the lobby the hotel room was adorable. There was one bed, with two little lamps hanging by them mounted to the wall. The AC was huge and right beneath the window, which had a pulling curtain over it. The bathroom was small but dealable for a night, there wasn't a kitchenette but we'd eat takeout anyway so it didn't really matter.

Puzzle had gone to shower, his back hurt really bad after driving all night. I offered to let him take my dab pen to the bathroom but he'd denied, stating that the hot water would relieve it some. I wasn't going to force him to take it, so I didn't say anything and he went to shower. While I was really mad at Blake for not telling me what was going on, I really wanted to call him. I couldn't help but be worried about him, he never hid things from me intentionally, and I couldn't help but wonder why he was suddenly. I knew that he didn't want me to get overwhelmed, but he'd been so insistent on me leaving that I couldn't help the unsettled feeling in my stomach.

I picked up my new cell phone, some samsung phone Blake had gotten me while I was at the hospital after I'd thrown mine over the railing of the porch and went to his contact name, and selected it. I let the phone ring for a minute, and whimped out, hanging up. I bit my nail a little nervously, and then sighed. I threw the phone down on the bed, angry with myself. Angry with him.

Why should I call him when he didn't want me around? I huffed and pulled my legs up to my chest and rested my head on my knees. I jumped when my phone started blaring Blake's ringtone. I bit my lip and picked up the phone, sliding the answer button.

"Hello?" I asked hesitantly.

"Hey, Princess. Are you okay? Is Puzzle still driving?" He asked me, and I sucked in a deep breath and nodded, before I realized he couldn't see me.

"I'm fine, Puzzle pulled off at this creepy little motel." I told him carefully. "It's really not so bad, but the guy behind the counter looked like a serial killer."

"A serial killer?" Blake echoed, seemingly distracted.

"Yeah, he's got these glassy eyes and this stringy hair but it's only on the sides of his head... the top of his head is all bald. He's chonky, you know, like hefty." I said, playing with my fingers nervously.

"That's awesome." He said, and I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, and then Jesus came back and opened up a portal to heaven and the old man floated away in a white buggy like the one in Cinderella. Then this kid came out of the back room and I swear to god it was Frank Sinatra, the bluest eyes I've ever seen. So yeah, we're getting married now, that should be pretty fun. Besides the fact that he's like, supposed to be dead." I said, and he made an mm-hmm sound. "Why did you even call me just to not listen to me?"
