Chapter 39

Narrator's Pov

When Deep called and informed him about Riya's breakout from the warehouse she was kept, Abhinav knew something awful is going to happen.
He tried to contact the security guards but the call didn't connect due to the signal problems. He tried to access the surveillance camera but all of a sudden they also stopped working.

When Deep informed him about the involvement of the same guard, who was held in thier captive, he understood the whole scenario.
Worrying about the safety of his precious baby butterfly, he hurried to his penthouse.

As soon as he barged inside opening the door with a bang, the first thing he saw was his butterfly's tear-stained face and Riya's smirk. In a flick of seconds, without thinking he took out his gun and shot her. He saw Pooja's face going pale in fear and the next second she fainted and was about to fell. But before that, he rushed to her and took her fragile body in his arms.

He took her to his bedroom and searched for any injuries. He sighed in relief only when he found none. He wanted to ask her about Riya and the reason behind her tears. However, knowing that she is tired, he let her sleep for some time more and decided to wake her up for dinner.

After taking a relaxing shower, he went to Pooja and sat near her. He was not a fool to think that everything that happened will be a coincidence.

It was his penthouse and that too at the top floor of the building. There is no way Riya could reach here without the help of someone inside. Moreover, the ridiculous cameras stopped working suddenly and the so-called signal issues. They must have hacked the cameras inside the penthouse and the fools working here didn't even realise it.

And the stupid security guards couldn't even stop her while entering inside. They can never get out of the hook without proper explanations and punishments. And obviously, he will never want these kinds of irresponsible people as his guards anymore.
He will make sure that every person behind this will suffer.

He called Deep to instruct him about thier next actions.

"Deep, I want every single person behind it. They don't know with whom they have messed. Also, I want you to fire the whole security staff, who were not able to stop the intrusion. Make sure that they don't get this job anywhere again...".

He felt some movement beside him and when he turned a bit, he saw Pooja moving a little bit. He was about to ask her whether she is okay or not. But before that, he caught her terrified expression. She started to tremble and quickly closed her eyes. He scrunched his eyebrows at her poor attempt to act like sleeping.

Letting her continue to the drama, he concentrated on his conversation with Deep.

"No Deep... I won't be able to come today. Just go there and give whatever support they want. I will go and visit them within two days". Abhinav replied to whatever Deep said calmly and disconnected the call.

Keeping his phone aside, he placed his hands below her knees and back. Gently lifting, he placed her securely on his lap. She tried to move closer to him and hide her face in his chest.
He was aware that she is completely awake and was trying to ignore him. However, he was unable to pinpoint the reason behind her strange behaviour. Suddenly her tear-stained face and Riya's smirk flashed in his mind. Surely she must have said something to make Pooja fear him and maybe it's the reason for her avoidance.

If Riya intended to make Pooja hate him, she must have told her about his mafia work and illegal works. The mere thought of his butterfly hating him made him furious and his grip around her tiny body tightened. Pooja whimpered slightly in pain and she could feel his anger by his touch.
