Zapdos collapsed to the floor in defeat, Sceptile standing triumphant over his opponent. The legendary bird proved to be a strong opponent but was severely outmatched against the forest pokemon.

I looked across the throne room, the King silent as he watched his pokemon lose a pivotal battle. The result of this fight fuelled my confidence and determination to their greatest heights. My opponent was a serious battler so I took any advantage that came my way.

"This is only the start. The real battle is yet to begin Aaron."

At that, the King called out his next pokemon. A pitch black skinned pokemon emerged, its body lined with bright magenta flames. Its tail flowed behind it, black and purple fire glowing in the dark throne room. The malevolent pokemon had its eyes fixed on me, letting out a piercing shriek.

Sceptile stood unfazed his new opponent but I knew that I would need his strength for later. The King still had three more pokemon after Moltress and I would need everything to ensure our victory.

I returned Sceptile to his pokeball, the forest pokemon understanding the situation. I looked down to my waist, thinking over the next pokemon, seeing that our opponent had a big advantage over most of the team. After some deliberation, I called on my next pokemon.

"Darkrai, we'll end this quickly."

The nightmare pokemon emerged from its pokeball, basking in the darkness of the throne room. Moltress watched on silently, Darkrai not flinching under its opponent's immense burning aura.

"Hyper voice Moltress."

There was no hesitation from the malevolent pokemon as it let out a screeching roar. The powerful sound attack filled the throne room, shaking the palace to its foundations.

"Spacial rend to counter!"

Darkrai didn't miss a beat, firing a blast of purple energy. Both attacks crashed into each other, the resulting explosion booming with a bright flash of purple before collapsing on itself. The second explosion kicked up a smoke cloud, covering the room within seconds.

Our only counter to a sound based move was for Darkrai to go all out. I gritted my teeth as Moltress cleared the smoke with a powerful gust of wind.

The malevolent pokemon didn't stop there, kicking up a rolling hurricane. Darkrai escaped into the dream world, somehow escaping unscathed.

It was then I realised that there were limits to the extra dimensional attacks from my opponents. The one pokemon who could get by untouched was on my side. Darkrai lived in the nightmare world so it used that as an escape instead of the shadow world that was surrounding the field.

I looked across the field, seeing that the King didn't flinch as he saw Darkrai use its innate power. In fact, the taller man seemed to smile ever so slightly, his malicious intent overflowing from his body as he stared back at me.

"Fiery wrath Moltress."

"Use dark pulse to counter!"

The malevolent pokemon cloaked itself in a terrifying aura, a dark purple cloak engulfing the legendary bird. Within a split second, Moltress had fired an unrelenting blast of burning energy toward Darkrai.
