Earlier...

Snowflakes dawdled in the streets of Busan. Most citizens stayed in the comfort of their homes to rest. However, not everyone is asleep. Some are in a persistent hypnotic state of illusions and illness. Because of that, the shadow monsters disturbed the humans in their sleep to bring chaos again.

The Shadow King cast a looming presence in the darkness, his aura subtly affecting the delicate snow flowers adorning the sidewalk. As he traversed a road in search of a new place to roam, he noticed a group of female ghosts leisurely gathering at the park for another gossiping session. Yeomra could clearly hear their whispering voices despite the distance.

"Have you heard about that cursed realm?"

"Cursed realm?" the other asked. All five of them huddled together. The youngest of them all (a teen from middle school) listened to her senior.

"Unnie, is this the 'Wonderland' the other ghosts were talking about?" she said with air quotes.

Yeomra's eyes lit up. They probably have the answer to his questions.

"Yes. I met a girl from Wonderland. I think her name is Sunmi...? Sunny...? Sori?" she scrunched her forehead and then rubbed her chin to remember her name.

"Oh! Soomi!"

Soomi?

Yeomra decided to eavesdrop on their conversation by sneaking into the bench's shadow. He hid behind their seats where he heard them clearly.

"Who's Soomi?"

"She's from Wonderland. She told me that the everlasting snowfall has something to do with the missing flower because ever since the flower went missing, it kept snowing in Wonderland."

Yeomra's eyes widened, their red glow piercing the darkness. He loomed over the five females as he stepped out of the bench's shadow. A growing shadow behind them caught one's attention, while another couldn't help but keep her eyes open, stunned by the sight of the king of Underland.

"I see. My curse also applies to all ghosts," Yeomra laughed. "Did the guardians told you that?"

The female ghosts trembled at the deep crisp of his voice. Most of them closed their eyes shut. The two who witnessed the shadow king were trapped in a hypnotizing stance. Both of their eyes glowed along with Yeomra.

The three ex-college students hurriedly shielded the young ghosts' eyes, attempting to divert their attention away from Yeomra's summoning. However, the king's eerie chuckle sent shivers down their spines, mocking their feeble attempt to distract the young spirits.
