Chapter 34

Third person's POV

After putting in lots of hard works and efforts, they all completed their first year of university with good results. They had a nice long deserved break, and before they know it, the second year of university has arrived.

It's the first day today, they come to the university as second year students. The first day is basically just an orientation day, no classes at all.

All eight of them are sitting together in the university's food court, having lunch. Mina and Chaeyoung are right next to each other, happily chitchating, feeding each other's food once in a while,

'Chaeyoung, Babe, I found you!' Someone is calling out for Chaeyoung very loudly, catching attention of almost everyone in the food court.

The eight of them stop eating, they look at the direction where the voice came from,

'Somi?' Chaeyoung says, she is standing up in shock,

And before she could settle with her surprised thoughts, Somi runs over and hugs her tightly, 'Babe, I miss you so much.' Somi tells her,

Chaeyoung hugs Somi back briefly then quickly releases the hug, knowing Mina is watching them, 'Somi, what are you doing here?' She asks,

'I told you I will be looking for you, remember? Here I am, I come to Korea for you Babe, I'm a first year student in this university now.' Somi excitedly says and proceeds to link arms with Chaeyoung,

The six of her friends have their eyes wide open, they keep glancing from Chaeyoung to Somi then to Mina, feeling the tense air between them.

Mina has been glaring at the reunion scene this whole time, and when Somi called Chaeyoung "Babe" once more, Mina had enough. She stands up and pulls Chaeyoung back to her side, breaking their linking arms,

Somi is pissed, she glares at Mina, 'Who are you, why are you interupting us?'

Mina glares right back at her, 'I should be the one who is asking you that question. Who are you? And why are you calling my girlfriend "Babe"?'

'Girlfriend?' Somi is now has her eyes wide open,

Seeing the raising tension between the two, Chaeyoung is trying to calm them down, she holds Mina's hand, squeezes it a few times to reassure Mina that there is nothing to worry about, she clears her throat, 'Ehhmm...let me introduce you two to each other. Baby, this is Somi, my close friend from Australia. And Somi, this is Mina, my girlfriend.'

Mina is debating with herself if she should offer a handshake or just say hi or just a nod, she then settles with a very small and reluctant "hi",

On the other hand, seeing Chaeyoung holds Mina's hand, and introduces Mina as her girlfriend, Somi's heart breaks into pieces. She fought with her parents for the last two years for a chance to get to Korea, just to be with Chaeyoung. Eventhough Chaeyoung left two years ago, the love she has for Chaeyoung is still there, fresh and full, but this harsh reality that she just learnt has completely crushed her soul.

Tears run down on her cheeks, but she quickly wipes them away, then forces a smile, 'Hi Mina, nice to meet you.' She says and offers a handshake,

Mina is taken aback, seeing the quick changes in Somi's emotions. She reluctantly shakes Somi's hand, 'Hi Somi, nice to meet you.' She politely returns the greeting,

Chaeyoung then introduces Somi to all her friends. Being a group of nice and friendly people, they welcome Somi with open arms,

Since then, they include Somi in all of the group's activities, from eating out, going to the cinema, friendly catch up at one of their places, to group camping, or even going on road trips together. Mina is always being nice and friendly towards Somi since Somi is Chaeyoung's close friend, she even offered Somi a car because Somi said she doesn't have one and she also lives far from uni. Mina offered it in a very thoughtful way, tried not to offend Somi of course, but only God knows how Somi felt hearing that offer, Somi rejected it.
