Leo's POV

"And?" I asked into my phone, the house was quiet except for the soft sounds of cutlery clicking in the kitchen downstairs, and the occasional groan and murmur that echoed in from the garage outside, beside that, Theo's house was just quiet... eerily quiet,

"Nothing," Stiles answered from the other side with a tired sigh, "There's no Dean Winchester, anywhere in the school's records,"

"Okay, thanks," I murmured back to him, I ran my hand across my face in an attempt to wipe away the tired expression, "Also we never had this conversation,"

"Mhm," Stiles chimed before the line went dead,

Stiles sounded off, I could tell he was trying his best to act normal, and I wasn't one to pry into someone's personal business, so I left it alone, if he wanted to talk, he'll talk.

I got up from the bed in the guestroom and moved to make my way downstairs, as I did the scent someone making breakfast drifted through the air, and it smelt really good. It came from the kitchen so I trailed towards it.

"Good morning Leo," Theo's mom called out as I walked into the room,

"Good morning Mrs. Raeken," I replied as I walked over to the kitchen island, "that smells really good,"

"I should hope so, I always put in an extra pinch of effort whenever we have guests," she said to me with a smile that seemed way to bright for this early in the morning,

"I'm sorry about that, we shouldn't have turned up so late," I started to apologize but she waved her hands immediately shutting down the idea,

"Oh no, don't apologize, I've been hoping that Theo would bring home a friend, and sure enough he brought home you," She said with a cheer, I could the excited in her eyes but it seems a little bit too forced in my opinion, "Ever since we moved back here he wanted to reconnect with you all, and I'm happy he did,"

"Yeah, I know the feeling, you don't know how much you miss someone until there gone," I said as I bit the inside of cheek, I looked down and tried to shake off the memories of Derek, I took a breath and looked back up, in the quiet of the house, I registered only three heartbeats, "Speaking of Theo, where he is?"

"Jogging," she answered as she turned back to the stove and continued to cook, "he started jogging a few months ago, said it helps clear his mind when he feeling stressed,"

"Ah," I said with a nod, I looked over to her, "Would you like some help?"

"Oh no, I've got this, a mother knows her place," she said in an almost flat tone, my brows furrowed as I took in her words,

"A mother's place is wherever she choose, if you want to be in the kitchen sure, but you're more than what society says you should be, this isn't the 1930's anymore," I told her, her heartbeat spiked for a moment, I tilted my head at the sound and watched her closely,
