~ 13 ~
Jungkook is sitting motionless on the muddy floor, his left knee raised where he rests his arm and his right leg flat on the ground, his back against a wall. He's holding a ball that he tosses to the wall in front of him, which bounces off and returns to him repeatedly, the rain still pouring down, yet he's reckless. Slowly the rain is drowning away, not as intense as before anymore, just like his still-beating feeble heart.
He's zoned out, his attention fixed on the ball that keeps returning back to him no matter how far he tosses it. But he snaps out of his trance when he receives a call on his phone, the ringtone loudly buzzing.
He catches the ball in his palm when it returns to him and takes out his phone assuming it was his mother but unexpectedly the caller was you. You had called him for the first time in years.
Not being in the right state right now, Jungkook gripped his phone firmly in his palm and flung it against the wall, just like he did with the ball. Then, in a fit of rage, he runs his finger through his hair, snagging the silky wet strands.
You were surprised when he didn't pick up your call. You thought that he'd be happy that you called him in years but it didn't seem to be that way. You felt really guilty for what happened today because you blame yourself for not telling the truth. And what occurred between him, his father, and his mother made you feel so sorry for him. You know where he is right now because that's where he goes when he's upset, so you decided to go see him.
"Tae, get some rest. Your cheek will be fine after the ointment," You smiled warmly, making Tae feel as though your smile had eased his pain. "I'll be back. Don't worry too much." You get out of bed and reach into the closet for an umbrella. You told Taehyung you were going to see your mother because something important had occurred, and he believed you.
"Please don't take too long." He slightly pouted, already missing your presence.
"I won't." You both exchange smiles then you exit the room and open the umbrella. Then, you exit the house.
It was pouring outside and terribly windy, so you grabbed your umbrella tightly and strolled down the streets to the sunflower meadow. When you arrive, you proceed to the sitting area, where you find Jungkook seated on the muddy floor, hurling a ball at the wall, which continues returning to him.
You take a step forward and hold the umbrella over his head to prevent him from getting further wet, causing him to scowl and look up. He glares and rolls his eyes when he sees you. "What are you doing here?" He was uninterested by your presence.
"Because you didn't pick up my call," you said, giving him a little glare. He locked his gaze on you for a few moments, expressing that he wasn't interested in what you were saying with his solemn look. "Why didn't you?" You inquired, expecting him to respond. He sighs and moves his gaze away from you, his face irritated.
"Look," He points with his forefinger behind you to a little puddle spawned by the intense rain, which contained his smashed phone. "I broke my phone," he shrugged his shoulders. "So sorry I couldn't attend your sympathy calls." He snidely smiles and tosses the ball against the wall so hard that it bounces back, ready to attack him, but you catch it in time, causing him to sigh with relief.
"What do you mean by sympathy calls?" You return the ball to him and set the umbrella aside, allowing the rain to pour over you. Due to the mild rain, your long hair becomes frizzy and wet. Water trickled from your hair and onto your face, spreading small drops all over your skin.
"That you only called because you felt bad for me, not because you cared about me." He was right. You came here because you pity him and knew you were the only one who could return him to his family, but that doesn't mean you don't care about him. You love him just as much as anyone else in your life. You don't have to detest him just because he's your ex. You only despise his possessive personality.
