Never Stop Changing

It had been five years since then. So much has changed in our lives. I've decided to keep myself busy and continue to earn from the booth I've set up in town.

Isabela on the other hand has been all over the place. As she grew older, so has her responsibilities as the eldest Madrigal kid. We could only meet once a month with how busy she was, but we made sure to keep writing to one another.

I just found a house on top of a hill by the edge of the Encanto. Asking around town, they had said it was an old storage room that was abandoned. When I found the old owner, they said I could make it my own and renovate it into a studio.

Things were looking up for me, having new projects every day helped distract me from thinking about Isabela. I miss her all the time, but I need to accept the way things are. She chose to prioritize her family, I need to respect her decision.

Things never stop changing as we get older. It doesn't matter if we barely meet, as long as we maintain what we have, we'll be fine.

Opening the door to the house with the key given to me, I'm instantly greeted by dust. I cough out and step away. "I've got a lot of work to do." I sigh and step in with the cleaning materials I brought.

I spend the whole day cleaning, not bothering to open my booth up for today, and only taking quick breaks to eat. I feel my muscles ache as I scan the room. It's finally completely clean, all I need to do is repaint the walls and set my stuff up.

Just as I'm about to head out, I find a ladder leading up. There wasn't a second floor, so it's most probably a rooftop.

When I climb it and poke my head out, my face is welcomed by a gust of wind. I get up and rub my eyes from any dirt. When I open them I'm met by the most spectacular view I've ever seen in this town.

The entire town was filled with lights and flowers while the moon gave a magnificent glow that made it all the more beautiful. The sky was filled with stars, with no sign of any clouds. Isabela would love to see this.

I let out a sigh as she crosses my mind again. Everything just seems to remind me of her. It's like I can't live my life without seeing her, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same for her.

I shake my head and head down, deciding not to think about her anymore. This month is already ending and we haven't seen each other at all.

When I get home, I take a quick shower. Once I get out in just a towel, I hear repetitive knocks on my glass door that led to my balcony. I slowly get close, deciding to peek behind the curtain.

And as if she knew I was calling for her in my mind, there she stood. She used her vines to climb my balcony, making me laugh. How cliché, isn't that something out of a romance book?

I slightly open the curtains, still aware that I'm only wearing a towel. I unlock the glass door, letting her in. When she turns to me, she hastily pulls me into a hug. I blush as I almost let go of my towel. "Hey... What are you doing here at 2 in the morning?"

When she notices what I'm wearing, she quickly turns away from me, looking at the wall. "Oh my god! I'm sorry." She murmurs, her ears turning slightly red.

"It's all right, give me a minute," I say as I start taking out clothes and getting dressed. "So, what are you doing here so late? Did you sneak out?" I turn to look at her when I'm fully dressed. "I'm done changing."

"Well, I wanted to see you. I never have time in the day anymore, so I thought... maybe..." Isabela says and gets a better look at my face. "You must be tired, maybe it's best that I go."

I grab her by the wrist, not letting her take a step closer to the door. "No, stay. I missed you too."

She smiles and pulls me into a tighter and longer hug. "What have you been up to lately? It's been getting harder for me to see you around town." I could hear the disappointment in her tone. We would usually run into each other, and those little coincidences helped make our day even if we didn't spend a lot of time together.
