Mila POV:
My face is wet as I look at Mama laying on the ground. I'm trying to get out of my seat, but I can't. The red button is too hard for me to push. I pull and pull at my straps with all my might, but I can't get out.
"Mommy! Mama!" I scream as loud as I can.
I'm really scared right now and just want Daddy to be here. He's supposed to protect me and Mommy. There's too much going on.
A car with red and blue lights pulls close to Mama's car and a man runs out. He goes straight to Mommy and presses his fingers to her neck. He turns to a walkie talkie on his shoulder and says, "We need an ambulance. Woman looks to have a head injury."
"Mama..." I whimper.
The man's head turns towards me and he says, "She has a unharmed toddler with her."
"Hey, sweetheart. I'm a police officer. I'm here to help you and your Mama."
"Wan Dada." I cry.
I know I would be a better help out of my headspace, but I can't seem to snap out of it. I'm too scared and I'm safe when I'm little. Daddy will take care of me once he gets here.
"Okay, we'll find your daddy. Come on, let's get you of of this seat."
The man unbuckles me and lifts me into his arms right as another police car pulls in. Two police men step out of the car and head straight towards me.
"Search the car for any sort of identification or phone. I'm going to take her to sit in the police car. The baby doesn't need to see her Mom like that. The ambulance is on it's way. Don't move the woman, just sit by her. She has a head injury, but has a steady pulse."
I'm carried into a police car and the guy sets me on his lap, turned away from Mama.
"Wan Mama." I cry while rubbing my eyes. Snot is coming out of my nose and it gets all over the police officer.
"We got ahold of her husband. He's on his way with their son." A different voice says.
We sit for a long time waiting for Daddy. By the time he gets here, there's a big red van and they're loading Mama up into it.
"Mila!? Hazel!?" Daddy shouts as he steps out of his car.
I bang on the window to get Daddy to notice me. The police officer won't let me out and I want him. "Dada!" I scream as loud as I can.
Daddy's eyes go towards me and he runs to the police car. He opens the door and pulls me out of the police man's arms. "Oh my baby. My baby. You're safe."
Dada gives me a bunch of kisses and runs off to the red van that Mama's laying in. He climbs up into it and I cry where I see Mama with her eyes closed.
"What happened to her?" He cries while pulling Kai into his arms.
"It looks like a mugging gone wrong. Her wallet was missing, but we found her phone. You're the first person in her emergency contacts. She as a laceration to the back of her head and some scrapes from falling to the ground.
"We're going to transport her to the hospital," The man stops talking when Mama groans.
She slowly turns her head to the side and starts crying with her eyes closed. "Mila? I need my baby. Where's my baby."
Mama's voice is weird and her words come out like she's really sleepy. "Hazel? Babe? She's right here. You're in an ambulance. Kai and I are here too." Daddy says while grabbing Mommy's hand.
"I want my baby. He tried to take her." Mommy cries harder and Daddy carefully places me on Mama's belly.
I snuggle into her and put my thumb in my mouth. I'm sleepy and wanna go home with Mama. We can take a bath together and she'll be okay in the morning.
