Hazel POV:
I'm panting and sweaty from Theo and I's adult time, when I hear the front door open. It's followed by the sound of Mila's cries. They were supposed to be gone for longer than that. Something must've gone wrong. Especially since Mila is crying. I can tell the difference between Big and Little Mila's cries. This one is Little Mila's cry. I instantly stand up and rush to the closet, dressing in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt.
I don't wait for Theo when I practically run downstairs. Kai, West, and Mila are sitting in the living room. Mila is held on Kai's lap while West looks at the bottom of her foot. I can see some blood slowly trickling out of a wound at the bottom of her tiny, chubby foot.
"What happened!?" I shriek, rushing forward to grab my little girl. As soon as she's in my arms, she pulls on my shirt and whines. It's a good thing I didn't put on a bra. Turning around, I lift the edge of my shirt so Mila can nurse. She latches on with a sad sniffle and says, "Owie."
"She was big when we got to the house, so we thought it would be okay to leave her alone while we went upstairs. Well, she accidentally knocked over a vase and it shattered. She has a small chip in her foot. Plus, my parents got home early and Kai snapped on them." West explains in one big breath.
I have a feeling there's a reason Kai went off on West's parents. I've known they're absent parents for a while now. I'm just wondering what Kai said. He's protective of the people he loves and I know he wouldn't have snapped unless West was really hurt by his parents actions or words.
"Miwa wan Dada." My baby cries around my nipple. I can feel her tears on the swell of my breast.
"Alright, pea. We'll go find Daddy." I coo, trying to make her feel better. He's going to have to dig that shard out of her foot. I don't have the stomach to do that. Especially because I would hate to cause her more pain.
"I'm right here, ladybug. Do you want Daddy to look at your foot?" Theo asks, coming up behind me and lifting up the top of my shirt so he can peak in at Mila. She shakes her head and continues to suck.
"We have to get that yucky glass out so your boo boo can get better." He explains softly. Meanwhile, Kai and West are sitting side by side on the couch with their heads pressed together. They're whispering about something that's too low for me to hear. West is looking upset with tears shining in his eyes. It's an odd sight to see West cry. This big, bulky tattooed boy is crying over his parents that are supposed to love him. I'll have to have a talk with them. It's none of my business, but I refuse to have him looking this heartbroken.
"Mom?" Kai asks. I look towards him while rocking Mila in my arms. He looks like he's building up to ask something big, "Yes?"
"Can West stay with us for a little while? Just until things blow over with his parents." Theo and I share a look and we both give a subtle nod. There's no way I'm letting West go back to his neglectful parents. Yes, he's old enough to take care of himself, but he deserves to be in a house full of love. It's clear that West has grown up with practically nobody. According to what Kai has told me, he was raised by nannies while his parents travelled the world together. I hate to think of the complex that might've given him.
He's worthy of all the love Theo, Mila, Kai, and I can give him. If his parents wont step up to the plate, then we will.
"Yes, he's welcome to stay here. In the guest room that is. The rules still stand even if West is living here." Theo says. West and Kai both share a large smile, then rush upstairs to check out the guest room.
All that's left to do is help my baby girl. She's still whimpering with the occasional sniffle. I gently unlatch her from my breast and move to sit on the couch with her. Theo goes to grab the first-aid kit while I comfort Mila. She's suckling on her knuckles while looking at me for comfort. "Daddy is going to make you all better." I whisper.
