. . . "Five years ago, the EZ Corporation had become the largest commercial entity in South Korea. 9 out of every 10 homes contained its products. It's political and financial influence were felt everywhere. Officially, it was the world's leading supplier of: computer technology, medical products and Healthcare" Namjoon said, showing pictures of the facility on the big screen in the room, so everyone could see.
"But, unknown even to its own employees, it's massive profits were generated by: military technology, genetic experimentation and bacteriological weapons, done in an underground base under the building" he said, looking at the group with a serious look on his face.
"So...the EZ Corporation is behind all this?" Jin asked making Namjoon nod, before switching the picture on the screen, showing two test tubes. A green and a blue one.
"What's that?" Jeongyeon asked. "The blue tube contains the Z Virus, while the green one contains the Antivirus" The male said.
"There's an Antivirus?" Taehyung asked perplexed, and Namjoon nodded.
"These two were made in the labs of the EZ Corporation, were the blue tube was accidentally broken, releasing the virus in the air. It infected every employee and scientist in the lab that day. They walked out of the lab unknowingly, and after 24 hours they transformed and well, the rest is history" the brown haird male said, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"And what does that have to do with Taehyung?" Jungkook finally asked, glaring at the scientist.
But Namjoon ignored him, continuing with his explanation. "Like any other viruses, when the Z Virus makes contact with a cell's membrane, it inserts their genetic coding into the cell. The cell absorbs the viral genome into its own, which hijacks the cell's intended functions, using them to produce virions similar to the original. The new virions are then released from the host cell and infect the neighboring cells, which starts the process all over again" he said, showing them the process of the transformation on the screen.
"It invades the brain like meningitis, the adrenal glands have an hemorrhage, the brain goes into shut down, followed by the other major organs, and then....death" he said, looking down at the ground with a sad expression on his face.
"Then it restarts the brainstem. It gets them up and moving. The frontal lobes and the neocortex that makes us humans, don't come back" He said, sighing.
"Basically they are just a shell driven by mindless instincts" Kap-so said, making the scientist nod.
"That's when you come Taehyung" he said, confusing everyone.
"What does Taehyung have to do with this?" Jimin asked, worried about his friend.
"An unusual case of viral infection occurs in the bodies of adaptors, wherein they gain superhuman abilities with limited to no brain damage" he explained, showing pictures of the said mutants on the screen.
"They look like the monster that attacked us at the farm" Lisa said, with wide eyes.
"Taehyung, your DNA is stronger then anyone else's, your body fought against the Z virus and won, getting full control of your body and Making you develop different powers". Namjoon explained looking at the male right in the eyes.
"So basically, you're not completely human and neither completely a zombie" he said, crossing his arms.
Everyone looked at Taehyung in amazement.
"So...why am I here?" the brunette asked, not understanding where this was going to.
"I have a mission that only you can complete" he said, making the other frown. "What mission?" he asked.
"You and a group of volunteers have to go to the underground base of the EZ Corporation and bring the Antivirus so we could kill all the zombie" Jin-wook said, shocking everyone.
"Wait-What!?" Jackson said bewildered. "And why does Taehyung have to go?" he continued.
"He is the only one who could defeat Wi Ha-joon, the creator of the Z virus" Namjoon started, showing a picture of the said man on the screen. "Ha-joon was one of the 'Wi children', the experimental subjects of a eugenics project conceived by Dr.Wi to create a new breed of superior humans with the Progenitor virus. The experiment was a failure and the project was shut down, but Ha-joon managed to get some powers out of it"
"Ha-joon went on to create the EZ Corporation, to do his illegal experiments without being caught. That's when he created the Z virus" he then stopped, to give everyone the time to process this new informations.
"So you want me to go there, kill Ha-joon and get the Antivirus, right?" Taehyung asked, scratching the back of his head unsure.
"Exactly" he said, stopping for a moment before starting again, "This is a very important mission Taehyung, the survival of the last human survivors depend on it. If we get that green tube, we can defeat the zombies and build humanity back again" he said, rising hope in everyone heart.
"But, before you answer, there is one more thing you should know" he said, grabbing back their attention. "the Antivirus will kill every organism infected by the Z virus...including you" he said, shocking everyone.
Jungkook quickly walked towards the male grabbing him by the collar of his coat before rising him up enraged. "The hell!? So you expect him to risk his life for that fucking tube just to die at the end!?" he said, in disbelief. "Yes" Namjoon said, with no emotion in his tone or expression. "You little shit-" he raised his arm up, ready to punch the other. "Jungkook stop it!" the brunette said, grabbing the other's arm. "It's okay" Taehyung said with a soft voice.
The blonde male looked at him with unsure eyes, before huffing and letting the other go. He ruffled his hair in frustration, before sitting back down on his seat.
Taehyung looked at him with a small smile, before looking back at Namjoon.
"Okay.... I agree..." Taehyung said, shocking his friends. "Taehyung you can't" Jimin said, making the other smile at him.
"Its okay....if my sacrifice means that we can save the rest of humanity, it's a risk I accept to take" he said, looking at his friends with determination.
