"I'm telling you, the Arpina is already too close to evacuate the planet." He looked up thoughtfully at her.

"Well," She said, leaning her head In her hands. "What if we don't evacuate the whole planet."

"What are you proposing?" He said, re-checking the satellite monitor once again.

"We can send. . ." She struggled to find the right word. "Experimental subjects into the oncoming black hole."

He shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "NO, absolutely not. It's way too risky, whoever gets sent up there will be ripped to shreds upon entry, we have never-"

"Exactly. We have never, therefore we don't know what's beyond the threshold. With our current technology, there is no way who we send wouldn't be able to withstand the forces."

"Maybe the ship, but the people-"

"-Can be chosen at random." She cut him off abruptly. "Twenty people, ten boys, ten girls, between the ages ten and eighteen can be trained to peak physical condition in time to be sent up and report back if it's safe or not. It's easier to know if Earth will be fine going through."

"And if it's not safe?" He asked.

"Well. . ." She thought for a second. "Let's just hope it is."
