Had your lunch? The text from bhai read, replying him in positive, I asked if he had his. He reverted soon, saying yes. Closing his chat, I scrolled to the unknown number's message.

Please don't be Viraj, my fingers shivered when I clicked on the chat.

Phew! I exhaled in relief, it was an apology text from the company, I'd ordered that vase from. I checked a few texts from some random groups and the stories of my contacts. "What?" My brows furrowed when I saw the story of Niharika's sister, Rida. It was a picture of the sisters, the caption stated- Happy birthday didi.

It was Niharika's birthday today, damn, bhai scolded her today. She must be feeling terrible. I quickly ordered a cake for her and called my brother, who panicked, but didn't show, when I told him to be home soon. Correcting myself, I said, be home for dinner. Assuring him, I was fine, he agreed to be home early. I got out of my room, carrying a small paper bag to gift it to my sister in law. The bag contained a French perfume and a designer clutch. I'd gotten them a couple of days ago, and never used. In fact they were still intact with the packaging, thus I found it to be the perfect gift of her.

I knocked softly on the white doors of the guest room, Niharika was staying in, "hey, please come in." She opened the door, and moved to a side for me to get in.

"Oh, I just came to give you this." I handed her the bag, her face contoured in surprise, before she could ask, I wished her. "Happy birthday, Niharika." It was extremely awkward, people are supposed to wish while handing the gift, and I did it like idiots. First I gave her the gift, and then I wished. How embarrassing.

"Oh! Thank you so much, Roshni." She beamed with happiness. "Come, sit." She acted too friendly for no apparent reason. I knew, she disliked me and she knew that I was aware of it. Perhaps, even if she didn't disliked me, neither she liked me.

"No, it's alright. I'd leave." She pulled me inside the room. She sat on the bed and I sat on the couch.

"How did you know it was my birthday?" She asked, taking out the the contents of the silver paper bag.

"I saw your sister's story."

"Okay." She examined the black bottle of the perfume. "Are these gifts from Mr Singhania?" She sprayed some on her wrist, sniffing it, she nodded her head in pleasance.

"You can consider that....." Poor her. No wonder she acted so warm. She thought bhai is aware of her birthday and thus he sent this gift for her. Even if he comes to know it's her birthday, he'd never give her a gift or celebrate it. However, if he won't, I can. I can give her a gift, on behalf of bhai. He should work on this relationship. Since he isn't, I'd do it for him. It's not about my insecurity all the time, this time it's about him, his life.

My phone pinged once again, checking the notification, it was a text from an unknown number. Hey, will you block me here too? The jerk Viraj found my number. Yes, I'd block you here, too.
