'Long ago, Calix's great great great grand father's father was an alpha of pack The Night Hunters. His name was Fang. The pack's southern boarder use to be empty to vast unknown land. Never changing. The real threat at the time was to the north, where their rival pack Scarlet Moon resided. They were a much stronger- larger pack. Fang was worried daily he might be overthrown by the northern pack's alpha. Fang was only eighteen. He lost his parents due to the previous winter's cold season. An outbreak of disease spread through the pack and they didn't survive. It was a witch's curse.-

To the west, Blacktail Growlers were a fierce pack of shifters. They were known to growl rather then to howl. Because they rather stay alone then join hands with anyone. And, to the east Everfur Howlers were strong hunters. They were a journey to take. But delightful people when around. They were the peace between the four packs. Because, the pack was strong and untouchable. Thieves at charisma.-

Alpha Fang... wanted to expand his pack. If he could just go farther south, he didn't know what he would find. He was greedy. Scared? With no she-alpha he was a male on steroids. His instincts to hunt. Ambition was eating at him. Fear of the North pack brought his thoughts alive. The only way to ease his fire was to travel south. He would hunt there. For his she-alpha? For more people to curse? Perhaps a weaker pack to invade? Whatever he was searching for he knew it was leading to his destiny.-

What he found when he reached his destination? Was a vampire coven. It shocked him to his core because before then? He had never met vampires before. Lore told him they were demons. Wolves and vampires were like dogs and cats. They just- weren't meant to be. But Fang was optimistic when he met a vampire, Luceil Eder Dragavei. The two became best friends and Eder promised that if ever Fang needed it... he would go to war with him. Giving Fang, the extra power his pack needed. It settled his feelings of anxiety.-

Fang found his soul mate, Selene Luuna who was a daughter of the west pack's alpha. A few years of friendship had passed by for Fang and Eder.  Now, Eder wasn't always married to Lamia. In fact he was a single bachelor when he met Fang. His heart was broken when Fang found his mate. Maybe it was out of jealousy. Fang's time would be taken up by someone new. -

One winter, Lamia visited Eder's castle. She was the most known vampire queen of the times. Because in ancient Greece, she's a feared monster. One who devoured children from peasants and was known to be a goddess of the night. Or even a night-haunting spirit. A demon. But, even as despicable as she was depicted. Her beauty was that of a rainbow. Once upon a time she had a taste for children. But, after marrying and devoting herself to Eder... she found a new taste in wolf. Lamia didn't have feelings but she knew what she wanted. What she wanted was for Eder to love her. Which was impossible when his eyes were only for one, Fang. He never made his moves but his silence was screams to Lamia. Lamia thought it could be a sign of love if she gave Fang to him for a concubine. If she made Fang's heart only for Eder... would he love her then? -

But, she knew better. If she let anyone get close to Eder she would loose him forever. He would leave her. Their marriage was only for benefits. Not love. Not devotion. It was empty space.-

Lamia started with the servants. Killing and devouring them. Eder's personal men would disappear. Knights turned over and vowed their oaths to Lamia. Only to save their skin. Eder's castle was renamed after Lamia. Because she took over. In time, Eder's life was wrapped up in only Lamia. But he was still sneaking away to visit his only friend. He only had two people he could trust in his own home. It was beginning to be very lonely. As he instructed his private knights to betray and devote themselves to serve Lamia. Her very words tricking him into giving up everything to her. Her persuasion and his visions were no match together. She twisted his futures and he kept secrets locked away in his heart. Deep down he knew, she had tricked him.-

He went to Fang to confess his mistake in marriage. He was going to seek help. But when he arrived, Lamia was already there. Cutting out the heart of Fang's soulmate. Eder had brought this monster into their lives and allowed her to infect them all. And, that was the night Lamia found the taste of werewolves to be divine. And, in her eyes she knew by the look Eder and Fang exchanged... She would have to exterminate these pests.-

The war broke out after that. Fang begged the northern pack for help. He offered his pack's territory in exchange for enough power to run off the vampires. Eder retreated to his castle- helpless to the situation. He had no true authority anymore. Lamia was out for their blood and Eder shut off his emotions as he knew the truth to come. No future would tell different. Fang would die a hero. Lamia didn't have enough power once the wolves discovered they could kill a vampire with just one bite. Her people's numbers dropped like hot rocks. Lamia was ran out of the territory, but she left one reminder- by killing Fang. -

She wouldn't forget the humiliating battle and how the wolves won against her. She was a powerful warrior. And, their blood was calling to her like a siren. The Battle of Lamia was passed down through the generations so the pack would remember the victory. How the southern boarder would be guarded the most... But no one remembered Eder, the coward.-

The moon goddess bestowed Fang Nine lives. Each to live out or gift. It was a reward for his sacrifice. He spent them heavily guarding the woods outside of the southern territory."

Malakai's POV:

Her voice echoed through the room as she told me the truth. There was an old painting hanging up above the fireplace. Lamia and Eder's portrait. I never met either of them before. But, their names on a plaque explained who they were. Lamia's eyes were painted to look at Eder.

Eyes of devotion were staring back at her. This must have been painted right after he lost hope in seeking help. He was truly alone and hers. Nothing was in Lamia's eyes. Nothing there but death. She had no expression on her face. It was stale. Plain. Lifeless. She should be painted in a coffin, not standing up next to such a handsome man. They were both chiseled beings. Cut to diamonds. I was so jealous of his looks I was forgetting hers. I never saw such a perfect couple. I wanted to burn that painting to the ground, already. Both of them could die for all I care. Ignoring her looks, my eyes focused on Eder. Everything took me back to him. I couldn't look at her when he was in the painting. 'Who are you, Eder? Why did your knights save me? What is your gain now in all this? Why are you making a move now? I thought you gave up on saving yourself... saving someone you loved?'

'The more I stare at your painting the more my heart is starting to beat for you. I feel for you. I hate that you're a coward. I hate that you didn't stick up for yourself... But you've changed, didn't you? Your looks in this painting was captured so well. You shine like a star in my eyes. You look like feelings and kindness. There's something humane in you. Something your partner beside you doesn't understand. Feelings.'

'Despite you clearly being my enemy...'

The more I looked at Eder... My mouth watered. My hands clamped up. My heart raced. 'Now I understand why you asked for them to protect me. You care for me. You don't know me, yet. Do you? But you know I'll give myself to you if you only asked. Because...'

'Mate,' Moro thought to me. It was like an awakening.

;I haven't even met you...'

'I want to go to him.'

'But, Moro won't shut up about you already.'

'You don't even half a wolf. And, we could never have children. So, how is it we're soul mates? Why is fate picking you and me? Now, I'm talking to you like you can read my thoughts... But you're not even a wolf. We will loose so much experience as lovers... But...'

I laughed.

'Something tells me this is only the beginning.'
