"I don't understand."

Asling said as she looked up at the familiar face of her master.

"You're dead."

She replied.

"Or at least you're supposed to be."

She added.

"You know me better then that, Asling."

Kierran said with a smile. It all seemed so wonderful, too wonderful.

"So that's it then? You survived and you're here now to help us restore the magick and return to Scanthia."

"Asling,"

Kierran said softly.

"There isn't a Scanthia to return to I'm afraid."

"What?"

Asling asked.

"I'm so sorry."

Kierran replied.

"They're all gone."

He said.

"All of them? You mean everyone?"

Asling asked.

"My- my mother and my father?"

Kierran nodded.

"How did you escape? The last I saw you, you were getting mauled by those- those things."

"I shifted into one of them. You know I am a master shape shifting, Asling."

He told her with a grin.

"You left me Asling."

He added, his tone of voice seemed to shift from a warm one, the one she was so familiar with, to one that seemed cold and distant.

"I didn't have a choice... you sent me away."

She replied slowly.

"You said I had to fulfill the prophecy."

She added, her brows furrowed with confusion.
