adella, steve and dustin were in the back room of scoops ahoy, playing the russian tape repeatedly while robin served on the till. bored, the band meme et scooped a small amount of mint choc ship ice cream into a sample spoon, erica sinclair waiting in front of her.

robin handed her the small spoon and the girl ate it, humming as she placed it down, turning to robin again, "can i try the peppermint stick?"

"haven't you already tried the peppermint stick?" robin asked.

"yes, and i'd like to try it again." erica sassed back.

"steve!" robin yelled, turning to the closed window.

steve walked around the small room, chewing down a piece of banana as dustin played the russian tape yet again. adella leant back in her chair, listening intently at the words, trying to figure out if she could work out the spelling seeing's s though they already wrote down the russian alphabets and their sounds on robin's board.

dustin paused it, "so what do you think?"

"it sounded familiar." steve said, shoving some more banana in his mouth.

"what?" adella and dustin asked quickly.

"the music. the music right there at the end." steve explained through fruit.

"you're listening to the music?" adella scoffed.

"why are you listening to the music, steve?" dustin fumed. "listen to the russian! we're translating russian!"

"i'm trying to listen to the russian, but there's musi-"

robin burst through the side door, "alright, babysitting time is over. you need to get in there. adella can take care of your child-friend. hey, my board. that was important data, shitbirds."

"i guarantee you, what we're doing is way more important than your data." dustin told her.

"yeah? and how do you know these russians are up to no good anyways?" robin questioned.

"how does she know about the russians?" dustin looked between steve and adella with wide eyes.

"i don't know." steve mumbled.

"you told her about-"

"it wasn't me."

"adella, you told her?"

"what? no."

"hello, i can hear you." robin interrupted. "actually, i can hear everything. you two are extremely loud while adella has been spending her time telling you to be quiet but can't get a word in edgeways."

"see? was not me." adella smirked and steve rolled his eyes at her.

"you think you have evil russians plotting against our country, on tape, and you're trying to translate, but agent figured out a single word because you didn't realise the russians use an entirely different alphabet than we do. sound about right?" robin questioned smugly.

she went to grab the tape and steve snatched it, "whoa! what do you think you're doing?"

"i wanna hear it." robin shrugged.

"why?" dustin and steve quizzed.

"'cause maybe i can help." robin nodded. "i'm fluent in four languages."

"ou-yay are-yay umb-day." robin said, speaking pig latin and adella knew it wasn't russian because of how it sounded and the pronunciation of the words.

"oh-ho-ho!" steve laughed.

"holy shit!" dustin beamed and adella looked at robin in amusement.

"that was pig latin, dingus." she stated, stomping on their dreams.

"idiot." steve said, whacking dustin on the shoulder with his banana skin.

"but i can speak spanish and french and italian, and i've been in band for 12 years.  my ears are little geniuses, trust me." robin explained as she sat down beside adella.

"uh..." steve trailed, shaking his head.

"come on, it's your turn to sling ice cream, my turn to translate. i don't even want credit. i'm just bored." robin whined, holding out her hand for the tape.

steve glanced at dustin who didn't object and then at adella who just nodded. he slapped the tape into robin's hand, adella picking up the russian translation book to get started as erica repeatedly rang the bell on the till.

"it's gonna be a code." adella mused as she opened the book.

"how'd you know?" dustin asked.

"they wouldn't just say what they're doing outright, would they?" adella replied. "they're gonna try and cover it if it's something bad."

"she's right." robin agreed as she went to play the tape. "you think we could be able to work it out if it's a code?"

"we can try. but i don't think it will be easy." adella hummed, leaning her chin on her fist.
