the group walked through the woods of the upside down, nancy walking ahead, robin and adella waking together and steve and eddie walking together slightly behind. adella was still humming bohemian rhapsody quietly and vecna hadn't tried to get into her mind yet. thunder boomed as red lightning struck behind them in the distance and adella sighed.
"couldn't we have tried a road, or something just slightly less creepy?" robin asked.
"i think we're getting close. we're almost out of here. don't worry." nancy assured.
steve and eddie trailed back in their own conversation and nancy walked ahead and adella looked to robin, "we may have to postpone our date."
"what, you don't enjoy walking through deadly woods with me? adella, you wound me." robin gasped making her laugh softly.
"my sincerest apologies." adella grinned, their smiles dropping when they heard a small noise, whipping their heads around but saw nothing dangerous.
robin squeezed adella's hand tighter, "i'm starting to agree that walking through these deadly woods is not a good date idea."
adella hummed in agreement but then she saw robin's smile slip, "what's wrong?"
"i just keep thinking that something bad is gonna happen. like, maybe we won't win this fight and more people will die and you-" robin cut herself off making adella frown. "and you might get hurt."
"hurt as in i fold like a piece of origami." adella tried to joke although she was dreading the fact she might die because of vecna.
"don't joke because... 'cause i keep thinking about it. what if the music doesn't work or you get sick of queen. which would be insulting, by the way." robin started. "what if no music works, no other song from any other album that was ever made because we don't know how strong vecna is! he could possibly be stronger than we know! like a magician!"
"a magician?"
"he could have tricks up his sleeves, is what i mean." robin mumbled. "tricks y- people can't see coming."
"i'm almost sure it'll be fine." adella tried to smile.
"that's not making me feel better." robin chuckled.
"yeah, me neither." adella agreed. "sorry for making jokes it's just not exactly making me happy knowing i could possibly die at any moment in time."
"yeah, i get it." robin nudged their shoulders. "thank god for queen."
"thank god!"
the ground suddenly started to shake violently again and the group stumbled as eddie mumbled, "here we go again."
"second on my list of least favourite things, earthquakes. seriously, i'm unsteady enough as it is." robin said before nancy ran off. "nancy! where are you going? nancy!"
"for god sakes!" adella grumbled as they chased after a nancy. "if people spoke, things would go much easier in this world!"
they came to the edge of a hill and saw nancy's house. the shortest woman spoke up, "come on." and they walked towards the house.
