the room, that turned out to be a lift, was still plummeting down as the entire group screamed loudly. robin was gripping onto the shelves on the wall, her fingers tightly interlocked with adella's who was gripping onto some boxes for dear life as erica screamed on the spot and steve held onto a stack of boxes for support, also yelling.

"shit! shit!" dustin shrieked and started to slam his hands on the buttons.

"we're going down! we're going down!" steve yelled.

"yeah, no shit, harrington!" robin called back.

"why don't these buttons work!?" dustin screamed, his voice high pitched.

"press the button!" erica ordered.

"what do you think i'm doing!?" dustin shrieked.

"come on, press something! just press the button!" steve instructed.

dustin continued to scream and slam his hands on the button pad as adella unlocked her hand from robin's. the scooper went to call her name but the girl stood in the middle of the lift unsteadily and held her hands out.

the lift started to slowly stop, crashing into the floor, lighter than it could have without her. they all fell backwards, a box landed on steve and robin banging her head on the shelf behind her. adella exhaled sharply, pushing herself up. she hadn't used her abilities for a while so they were slightly weaker since she hadn't copied from el for some time.

steve groaned, "it fell on my groin. dustin! get this off of me!" dustin then started to pull the box off him. "i can't move."

"is everyone okay?" robin asked, holding the back of her head.

"yeah, i'm great, now that i know the russians can't design elevators!" steve cried and shoved dustin out of the way to get to the buttons.

"i think we've clearly established that those buttons don't work." robin sighed, now standing.

"they're buttons. they have to do something." steve fumed.

"if we had a keycard, which we do not have!" adella exclaimed. "unless you have a secret one in that nest on your head!"

"a what?" steve asked, choosing to ignore the comment on his oh so wonderful hair.

"it's an electronic lock." robin explained. "same as the loading dock door. if we don't have a keycard, it won't operate, meaning-"

"we're stuck in here." dustin finished.

"yeah." robin agreed, now by steve's side.

"just so you nerds are aware, i'm supposed to be spending the night at tina's, and tina always covers for me. but if i'm not home for uncle jack's party tomorrow and my mum finds out you four are responsible, she's gonna hunt you down, one by one, and slit your throat." erica treated.
