Chapter 45: A Meal for Two Kids

Me, Dazai, Atsushi, and Kenji sat down in a seat.

Me and Dazai were across from them.

Dazai had his coat hanging on his chair.

My stuffed frog was in my lap.

~Time Skip~
"20 BOWLS OF CHAZUKE?!" I say in surprise, "FOR THE TWO OF YOU?!"

Atsushi and Kenji looked at me with their mouths full.

I sighed and looked at my wallet.

It'll have to work...

They continued eating, Kenji swallowed his food and looked at me.

"Are you guys going to order something?" He asked.

"I'm afraid I don't have the budget for all of us..." I say trying to keep in my pain.

"We can just put it on the agency's tab." Dazai looked at me.

"You seriously need to stop doing that." I look at him.

"So, why'd you two want to skip work?" Atsushi looked at us.

"We couldn't take another day without a break." Dazai said.

Dazai suddenly got close to my ear.

"I have an idea, go with it." He whispered.

He turned and looked back at Atsushi and Kenji.

"Let's make a deal." Dazai said, "You two can also fake being sick with us, and you both can get tomorrow off, we can just say we spread the sickness to you."

Atsushi whispered in Kenji's ear. Kenji whispered back.

"No, not interested." Atsushi said. "And you both will be going back to work tomorrow."

Me and Dazai sigh.

Me, Dazai, Atsushi, and Kenji walk out of the restaurant. It was already dark.

"Alright, you two go back to the agency. Before Kunikida gives you two an earful."

Atsushi and Kenji nod and start walking away.

Kenji turned around and looked at me. "Thank you for the meal!" He waved and continued walking.

"Nice kid." I say.

Me and Dazai walk the other direction.

"What now?" I look at him.

Dazai smirked and grabbed my hand.

"Oh, hey! I remember this place! We were here for your birthday!" I smile as I lean on the railing.

"Yup." He says and leans beside me.

I stare at the ground.

"I wonder if I could commit suicide off the building-"

"Don't even think about it, Dazai." I say, still looking at the ground.

"I'm just kidding!"

I look at him and blink a few times, I then start to check if my ears are worked properly.

"Is something wrong?..."

"Did the Dazai, just say he was kidding about death?" I give him a confused look.

"Yes..?."

"I think I'm still dreaming.." I say and looked back at the ground.

"Actually, I'm going to be honest with you, Y/n. I didn't want to skip work just so we could get the day off." He broke the silence.
