Chapter 58: The Apology

I should have never came here!

I hear a knock on the door.

"Go away..." I mumbled.

I hear the door open. They walked into my room.

Dazai.

I stared at my knees.

He sat beside me.

It was silence for a long 30 seconds.

"Were you crying?" Dazai broke the silence.

"What the hell do you want.." I mumbled.

It was silence again.

"I'm...."

I stay quiet.

"I'm sorry." He finished his sentence.

I was still looking at the floor.

"I should've controlled my temper." He mumbles.

It was another silence.

"You were right." I mumbled.

"About what?"

"I am a coward. And I am the reason F/n's unconscious.... I'm the reason she stayed in Yokohama, so it's my fault. You're right."

"You're not a coward. It's not your fault-"

"I am a coward, Dazai!" I say frustrated, "She might not wake up because of me!"

He looked at me with worry. "You're not a coward, remember that time we were at that haunted house?"

"Yeah, and I had a meltdown?" I looked at him.

"That's not the point! You grabbed my arm and walked through the rest, like there was no one around you!"

"You're just trying to make me feel bette-"

"And not to mention, you didn't know F/n would pass out, so the blame isn't on you!"

I look back at the ground.

"I shouldn't have slapped you. That was an 'asshole move' of me to do. Dazai said, "I didn't say anything after I slapped you because... I'm surprised I actually did it. But I shouldn't have done it. I should've apologized on the spot. I'm sorry."

It was silence for a minute.

I sighed. "I owe you an apology too."

"For what?"

"What I said about your friend...it was wrong of me. And how I said you were only welcome in the Mafia. That's not true."

He looked at me. "I forgive you."

"I forgive you too." I say.

I look at him.

"Are we good?" He smiled.

"Yeah, we're good."

It was silence for about 5 seconds.

"You wanna slap me back, don't you?"

"Yes, I do." I chuckled.

He notices the bracelet and ring on the other side of the room.

He gets up and grabs them. He walks back to me.

"Don't want these getting thrown somewhere else, do we?" He smirked.

I look away with embarrassment. "Shut up.."

I stood up so he could give the bracelet and ring back. Instead, he grabbed my arm and put the bracelet on. He then put the ring back on my right index finger.

"Much better!" Dazai smiled.

I blink a few times and hear someone knock on the door.

The door suddenly opened.

"Don't worry, Y/n!" I hear B/n say.

"We're hear for 'Operation: Comfort-"

Atsushi stops talking as he and B/n stare at us.

Kyouka also was there. They all had things in their hands.

"Uh..." Atsushi said awkwardly.

They three both slowly backed away and closed the door.

Me and Dazai looked at each other and started laughing.

I sigh and sit down against the wall again.

Dazai sits down beside me.

My phone then started ringing.

I answered the phone.

"F/n's awake!" Kunikida exclaimed through the phone.
