Let's Make Everything Right

C H A P T E R | 36

Chapter 36: Spending time as a family.

Mint was now uneasy and looked for Kongpob. It had been more like 10 minutes and, Kongpob took so long. Mint couldn't handle it anymore and, decided to look for him.

And, as she reached down the stairs, she looked straight to the two adults without any expression. As an innocent child, she don't know what was kiss was and, didn't know what the two were currently doing and she just stood there.

"Papa, Uncle. What are you doing?" She asked, and the two changed their current position. Arthit went back, slicing the remaining unsliced vegetables and Kongpob stiffened and looked at Mint who was hugging Simba in her hand. "What did you two done?"

"Uh...." Kongpob hesitate but then said, "Your papa just cut himself. I just helped him. That's all." Kongpob said, feeling awkward Infront of his daughter. He then, picked her up and asked her, "Let's go play again, shall we?"

Mint then looked at her papa who was cutting the vegetables, hanging his head low.  Before she could say anything, Kongpob was  fast and they were already at the room and he put Mint down.

Mint sighed and, continued back, playing with her toy, while Kong was just looking at her.

After a few minutes or so, Arthit and the two were already seated and, was already eating dinner. The two were silent and never said anything to each other because they are still feeling awkward about what happened earlier. While Mint sensed a tension between the two adults and, just sat down quietly.

"I'll help you with that." Kongpob said without any expression that were seen on his face. "No, i can handle it." Arthit protested.

"You have a cut. It might swell." Kongpob said, snatching the plate from Arthit's hand. "I can do it." Arthit then, tried to grad the plate but it was far from his reach as Kongpob held it high and away from his.

Arthit then, suddenly tripped over and luckily, Kongpob was there to catch him in time.

The two were again lost in sense and stares at each other's eyes, like what they've used to do, in the past.

"Papa?"

Again, a sweet and innocent kid, interrupted the two that made them get back to their senses. Arthit then, slightly pushed Kongpob and grabbed the plate from Kongpob's hand. He put the plate on top of a stacked dishes and made his way to the sink.

Kongpob on the another hand, cleared his throat and asked, "Do you want to play again?"

Mint shook her head and went down from her seat. "Let's go, watch some cartoons!" And dragged Kongpob down to the living room and grabbed the remote control, underneath the TV.

She press the red button and switched it to a dvd. She then, opened the dvd plate and, inserted it to a small box that was connected to the TV.

"You want to watch this?" Kongpob asked, pointing at the screen. "Uh-hmm."

Then, after the intro, they heard a bird chirping sound and Mint focused looking at the screen.

While Arthit on the other hand was just, listening to the two at the kitchen, washing the dishes.

"So, this is love. Hmm...hmm. So, this is love~"

Mint then snuggle herself to Kongpob who was caressing her hair. She laid her head into his chest and Kong of course, couldn't help but to smile. Arthit then, came out from the kitchen and spotted the two. "Papa, join us!" Mint said, indicating Arthit to come.

"What are you watching?" Arthit asked, sitting down to the sofa. "Cinderella." Kongpob answered locking his gaze on the screen. After a while, Kongpob then, stole a glance from Arthit who was focusing himself to the movie.

Kongpob then, didn't noticed that, Mint who was in his chest was already asleep. He then looked at Arthit and he saw that he was also asleep. "Like father, like daughter." Kongpob thought. He then gently picked Mint up, and Mint snuggled more close to him and put her head into the crook of his neck. Arthit then, woken up as Kongpob picked his daughter up.

"What are doing?" Arthit asked, Kongpob then, put his index finger to his lips telling Arthit to be quiet as Mint was already fast asleep.

"I'm gonna take her to her bed so she could rest. You should too." Kong said, and carefully took Mint to her room to lay her down.

Arthit on the other hand groaned, turned off the TV. After that, he went upstairs to check to the two. He opened the door, slightly and, saw, Kongpob, tapping his daughter gently and caressed her hair. Arthit then, leaned his head to  the door frame and smiled, unknowingly.

Kongpob then, sensed his presence and, turn to look to him. Kongpob then, stood up and went near him. "Need something?"

Kongpob shook his head and said, "I am going now, it's getting late." Kongpob was about to go now but, the elder grabbed his arm and said, "Thank you for, today. Kong."

"It was a pleasure, and, i also happy to spend some time with you two." Kongpob said.

Arthit then, lead Kongpob outside to the gates.

"Kong."

"Arthit."

They said at the same time. "You go ahead." Kongpob said. "No, no. You."

"Then, i will go. Uh... You won't mind if, i sometimes come here, right?" Kongpob asked. "Yeah, yeah. It was not a problem at all and, i was about to tell you that too that, Mint enjoyed alot of your accompany."

Kongpob then, nodded his head. "Uh, i will get going now." He smiled and Arthit nodded his head.

As Kongpob was starting the engine and started reversing his car, Arthit just stayed out and waited patiently until Kongpob was now far from his sight.

As Arthit closed the gates, he smiled like an idiot. He smiled because he was happy. He was happy to atleast, Kongpob was now present in their lives.

Even though, their family couldn't be whole again, atleast, Mint could experience the love she deserved, a love that only Kongpob could give.
