C H A P T E R | 38

Chapter 38: Avoidance.

The next day, Arthit dropped Mint off, first and the front of her school and, send himself to work.

Kongpob passed by, and greeted him, warmly, while he, just gave him an unconvinced smile and, walked away. It gave Kongpob an odd feeling.

He wanted to ask him about it, but Arthit was quick to walk away. "What happened to him?" He asked himself, looking at the fading figure of Arthit.

As he, Arthit entered the office, he finally felt the sigh of relief. "You okay?" Jeed asked, looking at him. He nodded his head and went to his seat, quietly, without even saying anything, which is, unsual of him.

Of course, Jeed didn't bother to ask more and thought, "Maybe he had a personal problem that i shouldn't interfere."

And, as Arthit sat down, he started his work, and, didn't even bother to smile, when Kong walked across their office area. Arthit of course, Arthit was still hurt about what he witnessed, yesterday and, everytime he will look at his face, he remembers the pain he had left him.

During the break, Arthit tagged along with his co-workers to eat in the cafeteria, and Kongpob passed by them.

"Khun, why dont you join us?" Jeed asked politely at her boss. "Sure, why not."

As Kongpob sat next to Arthit, he smiled at him, and of course, Arthit gave him a small, short smile that made him frown even more.

"Is he avoiding me?" Kongpob thought as he finally came into a conclusion and, wanted to figure out what's with the sudden avoidance of him, when, just a few days ago, they talked.

Throughout the whole break, the three girls and Duen couldn't stop talking about things came to their minds, while the two was so silent that, could only listen to them. The break was already over and the workers were all back to their perspective seats, while the two, still didn't talked.

Kongpob was really curious why with the sudden behavior while, Arthit felt so relieved that he was already away.

"Arthit, why are you so silent earlier?" Earth asked. "Well I..."

"Because of Kongpob again, isn't it? I thought you two already gotten along because of your daughter." Earth couldn't help but to ask. It was odd since, she knew that the two were going pretty well, these past few days, but then, the avoidance happened.

Arthit of course looked around, and told earth, "Can i tell you, later?" He pleaded. Earth of course who wanted the answer for her question, nodded. She hesitantly went over her seat, and couldn't help but to think what really happened to the two.

Arthit sighed, looking at the moon while he was standing at the balcony of his room. He thought of his conversation between him and Earth.

[Flashback]

"So, mind telling me now?" Earth asked. It was already time to go home. They are walking at the parking lot, and, since theres fewer people, who was busy, the two decided to talk.

"I saw him at the Mall yesterday and, I saw him with a child and a woman." He answered, "Phi... He already had a family."

"Kongpob had a family?" Earth was shocked, her eyes widened as Arthit nodded. "Then, what would happen now?" Earth asked, worriedly.

"I don't know. Maybe, keep my distance from him, i guess." Arthit mumbled.

"Maybe Arthit, you misunderstood it." Earth paused, "Because, i believe he wouldn't chase you and spend time with your daughter like that he he knows he has a family of his own."

"But, what if it's true that he has family of his own, what if, he just came over so he could spend time with Mint and fullfil his duties as her father."

"But what if it wasn't? What if, he really never married or, has a family? What if you really misunderstood things?" Earth protested and bombed him the questions.

[Flashback ends]

And of course, those questions of Earth were still bugging him, until now. He don't know whether to believe her or not, because everything happened was all coming back to him. All the memories they've shared. From kisses, hugs, and even those passionate nights they've spend. Everything.

And, everytime he thinks this kind of things, it's always Mint's face pops up from his thoughts. He don't know what to do, anymore. His mind was at the mess right now.

"P'Arthit." Someone called him out, he looked at the person who, was looking at him. "Kongpob!"

Kongpob smiled at him, and then, a woman came in, and wrapped her arms around his. And, there's a boy his daughter's age, who ran to them, and Kongpob picked him up. Kongpob smile, brightens and looked to the woman. He then proceeded to look at him and said, "I already have a family now, P'Arthit."

"Wh-what?" Arthit was astonished at Kongpob.

"I just wanted to tell you that i already have a family and, as for Mint, i am just doing my duties as her father and nothing more. So, please don't expect me to love you again, and, for me to come back to you because, i already had my own family, and i am already happy with my wife." Kongpob said in one go.

His face was an expressionless as if, he never regretted a word that he said to him. While him, his tears were running down from his eyes and, looked at the family Infront of him.

"I am so sorry, P'Arthit." With that, Kongpob left, with his so called wife and the kid on his arms who was wrapped around him.

Mint then, came in hugging his waist, "Papa, why is daddy leaving us? Does he don't love us anymore?" Mint asked as she cried at him.

Arthit then, crouched down into her height and wiped her tears.

"Mint, listen to papa okay? Daddy loves you, but..." He paused for a second, "He loves his family more." His heart felt shuttering as he said those words to her.

"Papa?" A voice called him out. "Papa, wake up."

Arthit slowly opened his eyes and the first thing that he saw was his daughter, sitting next to him. "Mint?" He asked, in a small tone, and, slowly getting up and, faced her. "What are you doing here?"

"Papa, why are you crying, and mumbling "no" in your sleep?" Mint asked. Looking at him.

He touched his cheeks, it was indeed wet and he felt his eyes were puffy.

It was all a dream.

It was just a dream.
