Jungkook pov

"Uh oh.That is not a good face. That is not the face of successful courtship,"

Dad said. I had just dragged my carcass down the basement stairs where he was watching the game.

Fresh off jimin's rejection about fifteen minutes ago, I did the first thing I could think of; crying to my O-Dad, of course.

I dropped on the couch next to him, letting my body go limp.

"Oh, sweetheart. You definitely need a beer."

There was a hiss and a crack as he popped one open for me. He stroked a hand through my hair.

"Tell Dad what happened."

I took a swig of the beer. "Court the shit out of him, you said. Give him things he likes, right? That was your idea."

He bit his lip, trying not to laugh. "The chocolate in the garbage bag was yours."

"Hey, he loved that."

Dad held up his hands, chuckling. "Okay, Mr. Romance."

"I'm so far out of my depths with this courting crap."

Dad stroked my hair again. "I thought things were going well, Kook?"

"I thought so, too. I mean, they were! But then I gave him the watch and he told me to stop."

"I wasn't expecting him to suddenly say no like that. Who says no to my kid? My Jungkook? That's crazy talk."

"Thanks, Dad," I muttered, feeling a little better.

"Okay, let's recap. Start from the beginning."

I had another sip of the beer. "So, I dragged Dre with me to that giant candy store and did the detective work to find that candy he likes, and he loved it."

"The trash candy, yes," Dad said, smiling gently.

I scowled but moved on.

"We started doing good in group work. You know, working together a little more, being nicer to each other. I gave him some other stuff that he liked."

"Right, then you asked me to show you how to make the stew, the one that convinced your mom she wanted to be my mate."

"He loved it."

"'Course he did," Dad sniffed. "It's my special recipe."

"So, y'know, I thought it was time to ramp things up. The truth was, things were going so well that I was getting all twitterpated and stuff. He started looking at me like, I don't know, like I just hit the game winner, or saved him from a burning building or something. I don't know."

Dad didn't say anything, just smiled softly and nodded for me to continue.

"So then I was like, okay, how do I let him know I'm really serious, right? And I thought, how about this watch? It was perfect for him. I wrapped it up real nice. No garbage bags this time."

Dad chuckled again. "Good call, Son."

"I was so scared. It put my feelings out in the open, you know?"

"It was probably the biggest risk I've ever taken in my life."

"I had to do it, though, I had to."

Dad patted my cheek, looking at me with glassy eyes. "Son, I'm so proud. Look at you, all grown up and courting omegas. I could cry."

I rolled my eyes fondly. "Come on, Dad."

He crossed his arms and settled back on the buttery-soft leather of the couch.
