"What?"
"I know it's sudden but, I found a good job there and it'll make it easier for me to take care of you Beomgyu." Beomgyu didn't want to hear anymore.
He suffered a lot in Seoul and didn't want to go back to that lifestyle. He knew his dad was doing what was best for the both of them, but he just couldn't think of anything but what happened to him when he was younger.
I mean, yeah, Beomgyu was bullied when he was younger. Called names for not having a big house, no car ride to school, not even the right pair of shoes to walk in. He tried his best to ignore all the negative remarks, but somedays it was hard to bare the overweighing stress.
And it didn't help that his Mom and Dad suddenly got a divorce when he was only in his last year of Elementary School. Beomgyu was young at the time, and he didn't understand the whole custody part of divorce. His Mom had always told his Dad that she wanted to start fresh after the divorce, which meant that it would be best if Beomgyu stayed with his Dad. Beomgyu never understood why though, it hurt him that his Mom wanted to act like he didn't exist. After the news was spread at school, Beomgyu only endured even more negativity outside. It seemed like everyone was disgusted by him, and he constantly sat alone.
"I'm not moving," said Beomgyu, clearly implying that his decision was final.
"I know you don't want to, Beomgyu. I understand you went through things during school before, but just think about it, there are so many more opportunities for you in Seoul! The past shouldn't tear you down from seeking better education, Beomgyu." His dad looked like he wouldn't take no as an answer.
"It's not only because of that Appa, I experienced my own, independent struggles in Seoul that I don't want to go back to!" Beomgyu was frustrated that his dad wasn't budging.
"Listen, I already purchased the train tickets, we'll be staying at a close friend of mine's house." Beomgyu didn't look impressed.
"We're leaving on Sunday, I'm expecting you to be ready by than. You'll also attend school there, try to make friends there Beomgyu, I'm sure you will." Beomgyu's dad was was wearing a reassuring smile on his face.
Beomgyu didn't spare another glance at his dad before going to his room. He couldn't believe he was moving away from his comfort place, and moving to the place he dreaded most. He had promised to himself that he would never go to Seoul again, even for the biggest emergency.
He knew there was no use arguing with his dad, it was clear that his choice was final.
Beomgyu stared at himself in the mirror, almost as if he was in a daze. He couldn't believe he'd run away from Seoul all those years back, just for his Father to give up his own restaurant in Daegu and move back to Seoul.
'He must've gotten a really good job..'
