66 ~ Slow

Third Person's POV*

Slow (originally by SOLE) was Sooyin's solo song for their just-released come-back Wings. From the Lyrics to the tune, it was all by Sooyin. She had written her own music for her solo debut, but she also had a lot of help from Hobi Namjoon and Yoongi, and also fellow producers at Bighit.

But this time around for slow, Sooyin actually wrote it while they were on their hiatus.

Clearly written in the lyrics, she repeats 'Take it slow' and 'Go slow' a lot for her chorus. This was what was going on in her mind during their whole hiatus. To take it slow and go slow, to not rush into things and overstress, to heal and re-energize. This was highly influenced by the media during that time.

Fans (not all) and many media outlets were rushing them to have their comeback. Ever since they started to gain more popularity, this demand for them to return has increased as well, and instead of getting a proper rest they were being rushed and stressed by the media/public.

So this song is basically what Sooyin used to keep her and the members focused on the purpose of this break. To recuperate and come back with bigger and better music for their fans.

She starts off the slow song with 'I don't want to go back' '사람들은 말해 서둘러야만 해 매번 같은 말에 많이 지쳤어 난 이제(People say we have to hurry. I'm tired of the same old words now)' Shows how much the media was affecting them. The media were making assumptions that while they're starting to gain more popularity they should take the chance to quickly release more music while they're still under all this attention, to hurry up before it disappears.

But all 8 of them understood that if this was rushed they wouldn't be able to make proper music that would touch their fans. So they knew that this break was crucial for the process. '괜찮아 아직까지는 나

'어디쯤을 지나는 걸까 매번 똑같이 궁금해도 그냥 너무 빠른 것 같아 나 혼자만 느린 것 같아 (Where are we going? Even if we get curious together I just feel like it's too fast, I feel like I'm the one slowing down)' The trend and current style of music changing too fast, whereas they're still behind waiting for the right time.
