Author's POV

"Were you just passing by again?" Mira immediately exclaimed as soon as the male sat in front of her. The female already caught a glimpse of his violet hair from the corner of her eyes, and she was slightly surprised to see him again.

Mira won't admit it but ever since they talked yesterday, she hoped that the same thing would happen again when she stepped inside the cafe. And it seems like she'll be getting what she wants.

Sucheon felt the corner of his lips quirk up at her words, "No, I came here for the food," He lied, he could care less about the food; he doesn't even know the food or pastries the cafe offers. He's just here for Mira.

Now that he knows where her go-to cafe is, he wouldn't miss the opportunity to keep seeing her.

"I don't see you ordering any," She tilts her head, somewhat suspicious of his reply. "It can wait," The male didn't hesitate in replying, keeping his gaze on her face, only moving to eye her hand free of bandage but still bruised.

Mira followed his gaze, realizing that he was staring at her hands which caused her to play with her fingers.

"What do you even do here?" Sucheon started the conversation, causing Mira to meet his gaze. "Be alone and ignore people," She shrugged. The reason for this was also unknown to her. It must be the ambiance of the cafe or the feeling of being alone, and she enjoys being in her own mind without any disturbance from her problems.

"Should I leave you alone then?"

Mira said too quickly upon hearing this, "No," Realizing how hasty her reply was, and seeing the growing smirk on Sucheon's face, she tried to explain her reasons. "I mean, it's fine to have you here,"

"Why is that?" Sucheon couldn't help but feel light at her words, enjoying how she doesn't mind his presence.

The female stared deeply into his curious eyes, gathering all the courage she has to say her next words. "We're friends, aren't we?"

Sucheon halted at her remark as he stared at her expectant eyes. He was not expecting her to say that yet deep in his mind he craved to be her friend again. He may have been hurt due to her sudden exit from his life, but after hearing her explanation, he couldn't but feel sorry for what happened because of his family.

In the early days after she left, he was in a depressive hole, alone, and caused his mind to go through several possibilities as to why she left him with no word. He picked every flaw that he could see in him and blamed himself for not being the best person for Mira.

But sadness then turned to anger. He was furious with Mira, for not even giving him a reason and a goodbye.

For 2 years, he was left with nothing but anger and sadness, blaming himself and Mira. And after seeing her again at the Academy, he couldn't help but be confused by his own thoughts.

Now, she's here with him, calling her his friend despite what his family put her through, what he put her through.

"Yeah, we're friends,"

Mira smiled, grateful that he thinks of her the same way she does. Sucheon felt powerless at her smile, a smile of his own appearing on his face. Both of them enjoying this moment, the start of their friendship again.

Suddenly, a loud ring interrupted the pair before they could say anything else. The small bag resting on the table buzzed as Mira hesitantly pulled her gaze away from him, knowing very well that it was her phone ringing.

She took her phone from her bag and got confused. Everyone in her contacts knows that she doesn't reply quickly to messages, so to reach her in case of emergencies was through a call. So for someone calling her can mean something. Staring Subin's name on the screen, she moved her gaze back to Sucheon. "May I?"
