Chapter 51

Sydney is currently driving to her second house. It used to be her vacation home but now it's her main home. She decided to rent out the other one she stayed in.

Sydney's music is interrupted by a phone call from Javonte. She decided to answer it.

"Hello", said Sydney.

"Did you leave? Or are you just not home?", asked Javonte.

"I left.", she replied.

"...for good or?", he asked.

"For good, I suppose", she said. "I think it'll be better for Shawn and I."

"Woah, Shawn? Sydney he got arrested last night", said Javonte.

"No. You tried to blackmail him. He isn't going to tell anybody you tried to kill him but he will be with me. So if you even think about trying to find a way to get his daughter taken away from him again—"

"I don't know what kind of lie he told you but—"

"Shut up, I'm talking. If you wanna try something, I'll tell Yasmin about what happened last night.", said Sydney.

"'Mmm", said Javonte.

"Yea. That's what I thought", said Sydney. "Now I don't wanna talk to you anymore."

"Ay I might have made the gesture but all you had to do was say stop if you didn't want it", said Javonte. "No need to have some attitude with me."

"Saying the same person that was going to leave their wife and the next day I wake up alone", said Sydney.

"Says the same person that's with somebody else the next day. What the fuck are you saying right now?", asked Javonte. "Who said I wasn't going to leave Yasmin. I was going to leave her but you don't seem to know what you want so fuck it. I'm staying with her now."

"You weren't going to leave her anyway", said Sydney.

"I was", said Javonte.

"I don't wanna talk right now...I don't think I wanna talk ever again actually...I think it's for the best", said Sydney.

"Really? I've been there for you for everything", said Javonte.

"And now you'll be there for nothing", said Sydney. "...I can't do this. If I can't be with you, I can't be your friend either. Especially after we had sex, Von. Im too emotionally attached. The feelings that I have for you isn't for a friend...so we should be friends period. Not while I'm trying to start something new with someone else. So bye, Javonte. Enjoy your marriage, start a family, have a great career. I just can't be apart of it."

"...okay", said Javonte. "But if or when you change your mind I'll always be here."

"Bye, Von", said Sydney.

"...bye", he replied.

Sydney ends the call.

Later that night, Sydney is on her computer looking at job applications. She decided to apply for police work in the area even though she was over qualified. She felt like it was best for her because she could spend more time with Sayora and it was less stressful.

Suddenly, she gets a FaceTime call from Shawn so she answers it on her laptop.

"Hey", said Sydney.

"Hey", said Shawn. "I saw that you called me. I was at work."

"Yea I figured...what did Javonte say?", asked Sydney.

"Nothing. I didn't even look his way", said Shawn.
