I wake up entangled.

Entangled in Joes arms and legs, and the white sheets have somehow wrapped and twisted around us, like a snake constricting its prey.

My head lays on Joe's chest, and I close my eyes as I listen to the sound of his breathing, and his heart pumping. His hand brushes my shoulder and I open my eyes, and look up at him.

"Are you okay?" He asks me.

He must notice the worry I'm feeling.

"I'm scared," I tell him, honestly.

Joe's warm arms wrap around me tighter, like I might disappear. I melt into him.

"Don't pull away from me again," He says in a stern tone.

I give him a small smile, and pull myself up so my face is closer to his.

"Never again. I promise," I tell him.

A grin spreads across his face. So wide, it reaches his eyes and you can see it in the skin crinkling in the corners and the shine of his irises.

He puts his hand on the back of my neck, and pulls me in closer to him, kissing me gently and passionately.

"I love you," He tells me, making my heart flutter as if it was made of hundreds of butterflies.

"I love you too," I say, grinning.

Joe kisses my smile, before sitting up in the bed, forcing me to sit up too.

"What are you scared of?" He asks me.

I take my hand and intertwine my fingers with his. His touch sending the heat I'd missed so much throughout my body.

"That we will hurt each other, and I'll have to be without you again," I tell him.

I look up into his eyes, feeling a weird combination of the heaviness of my insecurities, and the lightness in being able to speak them.

"I won't let that happen. I promise," Joe says.

I smile at him as a warmth flows through me. Despite my fears, I'm so happy.

Joe rubs the back of my hand with his thumb, when I hear his stomach growl. Joe laughs, and puts his free hand on his face in embarrassment.

"Hungry?" I ask with a laugh.

Joe nods.

"Maybe we should get out of bed, and have breakfast," He suggests.

I bite my lip, getting out of bed sounds awful, but I'm pretty hungry.

"I don't have anything to eat here," I tell him.

"Let's go out then," He says, giving me a kiss before he lets go of my hand and climbs out of bed.

I get ready with a pout. I like our little bubble right now. Once we leave the apartment, things are different. Things are real. Things could be taken from me.

After we're showered and ready to go, I fumble with my keys as I try to get them off the hook. I drop them on the ground, and Joe picks them up.

After he hands them to me, I reach for the door handle. But, Joe takes my hand and pulls me to him, caressing my face and giving me a long, warm kiss.

Once we break apart, he stares at me for a moment before speaking.

"I think... before... we weren't good at communicating," Joe says.

I nod, but he continues before I can say anything.

"This time, I want us to talk about everything. I want to know how you're feeling about things, and I will tell you what I'm thinking and feeling too, okay?" He asks.
