Hope and Kayla lead the way to a warehouse, probably full of armory stuff or whatever.
Kayla was too quiet, prompting Hope to keep glancing at her with worried looks.
Kai was too oblivious to the glances, looking around as they entered the warehouse, "Huh. That smells old" he remarked, amused. Hope and Kayla stopped close to the doors as Kai walked around curiously, "Wow, wow, wow. This doesn't seem like much of a spot for a powerful magical artifact"
"Neither does a stuffed elephant" the girls replied at the same time.
"That's very good" Kai laughed slightly, glancing at them over his shoulder, "Is that a side effect of your linking spell? Speaking like twins?"
The girls didn't answer.
Kai chucked to himself, wondering if he should start calling Hope daughter.
Because the link thing? No? Okay.
"Dr. Saltzman hid what we need in one of these crates, so..." Hope trailed off, shrugging. "Look for the Salvatore logo"
Kai paused, looking around the warehouse full of boxes, "It's a good thing there's not, like-" he laughed slightly, "400 crates in here" he walked through the boxes, Kayla walking to a crate, jumping in it to sit there, a blank expression on her face, already dreading what was going to happen. Hope stared at Kai seriously, still conflicted about what she was about to do. "Eeny, meeny, miny, crate" He paused, humming, checking through a crate. Hope glanced at her friend whose chin was resting on her propped fist, the guilt raising as she broke a piece of wood from a box. "When you say Salvatore logo, you mean, like, that thing with the 'S' and the squiggle?" Hope stalked forward, throwing the makeshift stake to his back. Kai raised his hand, stopping it mid air, turning to them, friendly expression gone. He flickered his wrist, letting the stake fall down with a clank. "And so it begins"
Hope stared at him in surprise and shock.
Kayla dropped her hand, perking slightly.
Finally, things getting interesting.
Kai vamp sped toward Hope, getting the girl to chant a protective spell, making a blue shield in front of her, causing Kai to crash against it, flying back across the room, landing on the floor with a groan.
Kayla jumped down from where she sat, watching blankly.
Hope glanced to Kayla.
I'm sorry.
Kayla didn't respond to the mental apology, watching Hope and her dad.
"Icaeus" Hope pointed to a wooden box making it fly up, throwing it toward Kai.
Kai raised his hand, making the box explode before it could touch him. "Nice try"
Hope tilted her head, running full speed towards him, both starting to fight.
