"SO? WHERE DO you wanna go, girlfriend?" Jungkook whispered playfully as he slid both his hands into mine, interlocking our fingers and using them to tug me closer until our lips almost touched.

Oh my god.

"Uhm, w-we still have to get the soy sauce, remember?" I stammered, trying my best to not get distracted. His mouth was really so pretty, it was hard not stare, especially when it was directly in the line of my vision.

When I knew what it could do to me.

What I wanted it to do to me.

I blinked and swallowed. "Eomma's not going to be happy if we don't get her the sauce in the next ten minutes."

He nodded even though his lips continued to linger over mine, his mouth speaking a completely different language than his body as he made no effort to move away. "There's no way I can risk making my future mother-in-law unhappy, right?"

I stopped breathing.

There was no way he actually meant that.

What guy talked about marriage so easily at just twenty one?

But then again, Jungkook had always said things along the lines of putting a ring on my finger and how I was his incentive to not act like a fuckboy. It was debatable if he'd actually go through with anything he said—it was common belief that the way you thought changed dramatically once you got past the twenty five year mark—but for now, I wasn't about to turn down some innocent flirting just because it came with a premature promise of marriage from a guy I deemed potentially incapable of long term commitment.

Face flushing pink, I looked at him. "Yes. And I also really want to eat the dumplings with the proper sauce." I quickly added, putting some distance between us.

Slipping out of his grip, I purposefully began walking, pulling Jungkook along as a result of our interlocked hands. And even though he appeared slightly unhappy about the increased distance between us, I grinned when he followed me without any protest, letting me drag him down the street as I rambled on about how we had to get to the convenience store as fast as possible.

Three, or maybe five years down the line, he may or not may not change his mind about marrying me but right now, at the very outset of my adult life, I was really looking forward to having some harmless fun and making life-long memories with a boy I finally trusted enough to not be on a constant guard around him.

He could break my heart later on, but knowing that it was safe with him in this moment right now, was more than enough.

Thankfully, since the store wasn't far from my house and mostly free of any other customers, I managed to find my mother's favourite brand of soy sauce pretty quickly and was soon out of the tiny store when Jungkook walked out with two giant bags full of snacks in his hands.
