A foreboding silence blanketed the air of the dark room. The only noise that could be heard was the sound of the strong wind hitting the outside walls. It sounded like a cry of despair, it sounded like someone crying out in pain.
Taehyun sat in his bed in complete darkness, curled up against the headboard as if he was trying to make himself as small as possible. His legs were pulled tightly to his chest and his arms were wrapped around them. He held onto his knees as he stared at the window, terror swimming in his widely open eyes.
He wanted nothing more than to fall asleep. His mind was filled with the thoughts that plagued his mind. He couldn't even dare to close his eyes, fearing something might attack him out of nowhere if he did. He just wished for everything to go away and leave him alone, but he knew it wouldn’t happen. There was no such thing as an escape anymore. Beomgyu was back and he had every intention of catching Taehyun. The latter was afraid he'd climb into his bedroom window and murder him if Taehyun dared to fall asleep.
His body couldn't stop flinching and shaking every time the wind rattled the window violently. He could feel tears threatening to spill out any moment now. He was so damn scared right now, all he wanted was to scream or at least yell so he could relieve some of the fear he was feeling at the moment. There were shadows in every corner of the room; creeping up from under the covers of the bed and over the walls. Taehyun had no idea why he was being so paranoid, but he couldn't help it at all. And if anyone else saw his condition at this point they would definitely pity him. The only thing he could do was to turn on the lamp on his nightstand so that at least the shadows would have the decency to retreat.
His breaths came out in short pants and he clutched his sheets with his hands, trying to calm himself down. All he wanted to do was sleep, but he knew that was impossible given his current situation. Even breathing felt like an exercise in torture. He couldn't help but feel like he wasn't alone; like someone was watching him from the corner of the room.
He tried hard to reduce his anxiety, but it only seemed to get stronger as time passed. He tried counting sheep to calm himself but ended up losing count halfway through the list. In between his breaths, he kept thinking about the person who was probably standing by his bedroom door now, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike and kill.
After a while, Taehyun realized that he couldn't take it anymore, so he crawled off the bed and stood on his shaky legs, taking anxious steps toward the door. He grabbed the handle of the door and slowly opened it, wincing from the loud creaking noise the action made.
Once the door was fully open and he was able to see what was around him, Taehyun's heart calmed a little and he made his way to Yeonjun's bedroom, the only hope he had left.
When Taehyun walked into the room the first thing he noticed was how silent it was. Yeonjun was lying in his bed and sleeping. Taehyun felt really bad that he was having to interrupt his sleep, but he had no other way. If he didn't wake him up, he would go crazy with his paranoia, and that wasn't something he wanted to deal with.
